Do you know what. It really doesn't bother me. If he has not had an accident and did not endanger anyone then fair enough. Now I understand police procedure has been changed as a result of this case and officers now have to specifically gain permission to go on "shakedown" runs etc. But they have to practice somewhere.

I hope this is aiding my police karma so that when I get stopped at silly speeds, he goes easy on me!

      Cheers,

sorry steve, but I cannot agree.

Anyone who drives at the sort of speeds this idiot was driving at on a public road should never be allowed behind the wheel of a vehicle again. Whether they actually hit anything or not is utterly irrelevant. I refuse to believe that it would be in the public's interest for the police to chase a car doing 150mph on a british motorway, least of all in a bloody Vectra which is right at its Vmax at that point. So, why does he need to practice at such a ridiculous speed?

What makes it even worse is that he didn't even bother putting on his siren and lights whilst doing it.

But the real clincher is that he was also doing 90mph in a 30mph zone . That alone should have him locked up for a VERY long time in my opinion.

It is nothing short of a disgrace.

                  Interesting...

                  Hope all is well anyway.

I am not in the habit of policebashing - it is too easy. I have quite a few mates that are coppers and they are a hard working and decent bunch.

                  Cheers,

                    Jay,

sorry for any offence caused to you in my post. I know the press twist things horribly to suit themselves, and no doubt there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye, especially in view of the judge's somewhat cryptic words at the end of the trial today.

However, I stand by my opinion of ANYONE who drives at those speeds (which are indisputable since now a matter of public record) on British public roads at any time of day or night. Whether they are police, professional racing drivers or just joe public, they should be banned for life. Period.

Personally I would rather see banned the idiots that drive at 25 mph and not concentrating on driving, those that are more interested in what the kids are doing or changing the radio, etc etc.

Fully aggree with you Corey, I did my bit for us, Leeds Uni was doing a servey/test on speed and awareness. I took part, simulator rover thing with computer screens all around, I was super on the ball in the "drive like normal" sinario, asleep on "government enforced speed" where the car won't go over the limit!

If they didn't want to do him why did they bring it to court in the first place.

159 in a Vectra?? He's got grande cojones..

Flossy, you own an S2 right? And you've never been out on the bypass late at night and put your foot down to see how it goes?

The high speed blast down the motorway, fair enough. He's a trained driver, trying the car out in the middle of the night on a quiet stretch of tarmac. I challenge anyone here to tell me they've not explored the upper end of their cars limits on a quiet road late at night.

90mph through a 30mph limit. String him up.
Sorry for being harsh, but I've a friend that lost her little girl to some knob doing 75 through a 30 zone. They had to pick the pieces up. They never did find her left foot, theory is that some animal/dog etc, ran off with it.
I wonder how this guy would react if this had happened to him?

                              Nuff said..
