Went out again in the RS4 today, seem to run out at 150ish in 5th didnt try 6th as sales lady started to look unhappy as we past the 8th car in a line of traffic!
Mate that came with me was so impressed end up buying a mint sky blue RS4 on a 2002 plate!! I had to drive it for him as he has 12 points on his licence lol! again the sales lady was thrown about the back seat with a fixed smile on her face!!!

@Jay - Congrats, I am sure you will love it!
@Minhea - what sort of gains are you getting on chipping the RS4? I doubt it would be much?
@ezveedub - I think the engine is just tight in the beginning. The demo car I dove with plenty on hard km's on it felt faster than ours with still only 1700km on it.1995 Silver S2 (ADU) Coupe

Not trying to be as blatantly rude as Mihnea, but what b011ax (or at best marketing b011ax). Do you think the engine in the M5 bares any resemblence to a racing engine? Same basic block design at best, but different heads, crank, pistons, rods, oil ways, manifolds, cams, valves.... yadda yadda yadda. I would guess that an UR or S2 had more in common with a race (well rally) engine than the RS4 or an M5 and that is still not a lot.Originally posted by S2 PTHI'd personally go for a new M5 over the RS6/4 as I just love the fact that its a proper racing-derived V10!

That maybe true were you are then, because in the US, they will not pass 125 mph new! Had a customer complain already when he took it out on a track fresh off the showroom floor. The 2 ECM's are also data logging somewhat from what I am told, unless they don't run that outside the US, too. As you you do know the US does have different software. The RS4's brought in the US for customer ride & drive events had to be flashed to US software when they came over. I didn't get a chance to drive it with the EURO software. Do you have the Euro code in a flash program?Originally posted by MihneaROTFLMAO!!! I have the code from the new RS4s and I can only say it's a bunch of rubbish you're telling there!!!

OK, for all our CODE grabbing people out there, the RS4 (at least in the US) is limited to 6000 RPM till 600 miles, then 7000 RPM from 600-1200 miles, then 1200-1500 miles it has a 8250 RPM redline, BUT is gradual from 7000-8250. After 1500 miles the engine is limited to 7000 RPM cold (states this in the Instrument cluster) until the oil temperature reaches to operating temp (I saw it turn off at 130). That is the only limiter after 1500 miles. You can check that code in the ECU! Oh, just for notes, if the ECU is not decoded out of transportation mode, it will NOT allow you to exceed 45 MPH. This is removed during the PDI when the cars come, but just a note for all who may want to know. And hopefully they replaced the spark plugs also, but like I said, I can only confirm this in the US.Originally posted by MihneaROTFLMAO!!! Rs4
Hi there
If your going for new non-turbo car, think you should wait til late next year, then the new M3 will be at sale. Also a V8 - and same weigh as E46 M3, but if its as good as the M5 V10. I would prefer it for the RS4, eventhoug its not an Audi

When it comes to using race derived engines, Audi is the obvious choice over its German rivals. Look at the R8 V8 FSi and previous R8 40 valve V8; all the 10v and 20v turbo five racing engines as well as the 8v and 16v four cylinders used in the A4 and 80 touring cars. All these were actually based on real production engines.Comment
