There's a (reputable) link doing the rounds on PETROL HEAD related websites to donate money to the YAA (Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service) who air lifted Richard to hospital.

It has already raised over £3500, but this only just covers enough to run the helicopter for 1 day.

Please give generously, you never know (God forbid) when anyone of us may need such a service

Don't forget to tick the tax rebate option too.

Please post this link on any other forums you may be associated with (not just Petrolhead forums)

Help Alex Goss raise money to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity

A very unfortunate accident. I'm sure the team did everything possible to ensure his safety and is probably why he survived. They undoubtedly have many near misses doing the show only this time someone got seriously injured. The stig had a close shave in that Koenigsegg.

              Good Bloke too

Seems a blowout at over 300 mph WAS the cause of the accident (you were right Jamo )

In fact they reckon he had unofficially broken the land speed record at 315mph on that run until the blowout ripped the car off the tarmac and it submarined into the field.
he is one very very lucky bloke to even still be alive....

I found this below on a Virgin net comments book for Richard...............Not a veiw shared by most.

                  Rippon from London says:

Hammond belongs to the cult which fetishises cars and speed, and thereby celebrates the materialistic culture of which the car is a potent icon.

This is a juvenile mind-set which we must all grow out of for the sake of the future of humanity and our environment.

Hammond’s accident should evoke the same level of sympathy as that of a silly adult playing with guns.

The best outcome of Hammond’s accident is if he and his colleagues (of whom Clarkson wins in the juvenile stakes) grow up and realise that, as mature (in years at least) adults, they should focus their attention, and that of their cult following, not on the latest polluting toys (only available to the very rich anyway) but on a feasible future for private transport.
