I think from memory he has a bit of history too doesn't he - sure i read something on quattroownersclub a while back before it all split up? One the few times I have been online or into the garage they have always seemed to be very pricey. I looked seriously at a B reg one before I bought the S2 and it was fairly high miles and he was looking for £6-7k IIRC
UR Quattro???

double the price of the one I'm looking at plus some!
That's the main problem at the moment. The difference in the asking price and what they actually sell for. Obviously a dealer has his mark up and repuation to uphold when selling a vehicle especially if it relies on good word for repeat business as many do.
Similar ones in German seem to fetch between 12 and 15,000 Euros which seems a lot higher price than the average price in the UK market.Comment

Be careful mate. My brother bought his UR at what he thought a bargain 4k. He has since spent about 10k restoring it and then another 8-10k making it quicker. I bought mine from a man called Justin whoo has the yellow UR on QST site. He had spent about 10k restoring what is now my UR. I paid 6750 for mine which i didnt hesitate in paying. Making sure the panels are not rotting from the inside out is my only bit of advice. Once u get one though and they are running fine they are unbelievable cars. Good luck mate3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

There's 2 cars I would like to add to my collection and am torn between what to get. For years I've been after a UR Quattro and a Lancia Delta Integrale. Basically, something with a lot of rally pedigree. Both have superb engines and handling ability but it also seems, both have their fair share of problems. And to find a good unmolested/unabused example some 10-20 years on is going to be no mean feat it seems.
Maybe I should just grow up and by a cheap sensible hack instead of chucking money at classics, but I know that ain't ever gonna happen! Despite how much my mom and dad grumble every time they pop round to see me!Comment

I 've had my UR for 13 years, wouldn't sell it. they are fantastic, feels like driving a MK1 golf gti compared to my RS, light, nimble more responsive.
I would just look for a great body, mechanicals are easy fixed, body is not.
I have really looked after mine but it has been used every day, I had to replace both sills. The dredded tin worm is the biggest head ache!!
Avoid sun roof cars if poss, mine cracks to the b post every year or so, have a good look where the bonnet release cable comes through the bulkhead, look for cracks around there. They are old and the chassis flexes alot.. mines having a cage very soon!
10v engine is ok, I guess. supps fuel, 20v is as you know much better mpg..10v round town is worse than RS!

There are still good Ur quattros for sale and I am sure if you are careful you will find one and be happy with it. As others have said, when they are going the way Audi intended, there is nothing like an Ur quattro. Good luck and hope you find what you are after.
On another note. Phil Payne might not get on with everyone (who does?), but his knowledge on the Ur is second to none. Even his worst enemies will admit to this. What is wrong with charging money for expert services? He gives free advice on quattroforum everyday anyway.Comment

I have been waiting for three months now for a so called report on a car
And i would also disagree that he is second to none, a chap called Pete Berry of white cottage quattros in Sussex looks after both of my urs and IMHO he is second to none
As for buying a ur most of the tips have been covered, buy the best you can with the best history and then you wont regret it
For me nothing comes close to the wow factor of the ur

The thing that lets the 10v down is the Kjetronic fueling system, it literally strangles the poor thing. Go Efi and the world is your oyster.Originally posted by GT50010v engine is ok, I guess. supps fuel, 20v is as you know much better mpg..10v round town is worse than RS!
