Got my car back on the road!

    Yay!

But can't drive it cos I'm in Buenos Aires Haha!

Part of me wants to be home and driving it (only a very small part though)

So it now has an almost new complete cylinder head, the SPM rods are in, the 7A Ex cam, 6 speed box, and low miles ABY diff. The motor feels incredibly smooth.

    Niggles

1st and reverse are a bit notchy to find.

3rd and 4th sound "rizzy" at low RPM below 2500, there's obviously a bit of play somewhere.

The Spec clutch is a bit strange, doen't feel like an uprated clutch at all, the bite point is very high too, hasn't slipped yet but not totally sure if its right.

I'm not getting my normal 25-26lbs boost at WOT, only 20lbs and it drops off quickly, maybe a leak but not sure where, didn't have time to do a pressure test, actually it seemed to give 25lbs a couple of occasions but after that no more than 20lbs, think it may be WGFV related.

Anway I'll test for leaks etc when I get home, looking forward to getting it going properly cos it feels well fit even as it is.

    Hi Newsh
Sounds like you've had a lot of work done since Combe - hope you get the niggles fixed. What are you doing in Buenos?!

      Hi Dan
I'm sure we can get it sorted.

That's a fair bit of work you've done there!! Good to hear you have a nice, strong engine for future upgrades

I'd be very interested to hear about the 6-speed box that's fitted (i remember ages ago you were contemplating a conversion - we need details!! As I wanna fit a 6-speed next year :mischeif: ) and where'd ya get this rear-diff from?

          Cheers

Well, there's absolutely no excuse not to bolt on a bigger turbo now, but then a bigger intercooler might help... aarrgg!

The 6 speed goes in pretty easy, you need the mounts and linkage to go with it and a spacer to fit it to the 3B subframe, then you need a shorter front section for the propshaft, I got an Avant one off Sal. The diff came from MartinJS, bought to fit to his 3B but not used.

I already like the ratios of the 6 speed but it'll take a while to get used to it.

The head was warped after 2 leaky rads in a row and failures of water pump and afterrun pump, probably not in that order, the water boiling continuously in the head had erroded the waterways. Not pretty.
