  • LPG Kit in S4

Hi, Does anyone have any experience of or know anyone who has had an LPG kit fitted to a S4. 2.7 twin turbo avant model. The LPG fitters say it is fine but i'd like to get some feed back from any one who's had it done.
The fitters will remove the spare wheel and fit a 60 to 75 litre gas bottle where it was.
Obviously i'm interested in the effects it has on the engine etc.
    thanks

might be worth looking on the LPGA website for some more details of suppliers. Ive heard of some 2.2T S4's being converted though

I have looked into this for my 2.2 ur s4/s6. I will convert mine when i get a chance. You need a top notch kit like a OMVL Piro or a Omvl dream XXI (21) N. With a good kit you will lose little power and it will be reliable.

          Cool.
          Thanks for the advice.
I'm still very interested to hear from anyone who's actually had one fitted.

There is a company near me which specialises in converting cars to LPG. Very pricey but they claim no loss of power!!!
            Dark Grey Avant
            RS2 FARB
            Powerflex Front wishbone bushes

I have been doing research on LPG for a fair while and used to setup commision LPG/ Nat gas Gensets untill last week. Now i work as a engineer at a gas company. I have never converted a car, but am confident i will do it myself. the OMVL kit is the best on the market.

BTW, my dad at Church Road Garage use to do LPG conversion, use to have a stock saab 9000 turbo converted to LPG and runs pretty well. Best to go for one with LPG direct injection and a piggy back ecu rather than just an on deman system.

LPG works very well on big V8's like range rovers though

Yep second that. Our cars need direct incection systems, not old carb setups. No Matter what those install Guys say you will lose about 5% power without getting the car mapped to take advantage of the gas. Gas has almost 20% less energy than petrol, but has a higher octane rating. So a good remap on the gas could push more timing and boost then you could on petrol, so you will recover the power lost no prob. I plan on having 375 hp on my s4/s6 on gas once finished.

I have a good LPG system (GIG 3 - DLS) for sale specifically designed for 6cylinder turbo cars - I'm now running one of these on my S4 2.2T. The system is pair-sequential (2 big injectors - one for the 3 cylinder pair, reads the sequence from the Motronic), comes with lpg pressure sensor, own MAP sensor (4BAR - special for turbo cars !!!), special vapouriser, excellent, handy tuning program. In fact, this system flows enough lpg for my S4 GT3071R system. It would be interesting to see it squirting on the 2.7TT engines as that's what it's designed for When I installed mine, it took me 2 days to finish it - then the system started after 1 minute from opening the tuning program on the laptop

i have a bigas piggy back system on my A4, think its the cheapest one on the market

it works but im not overly impressed with it

having said that when i was putting the new engine in last weekend i noticed some faultly injector wires so be interesting to see if the miss fire/flatness goes with these repaired

differance between lpg and petrol was like a turbo kicking in - like i said the the system fitted to my car (came on the car when i bought it) i believe to be one of the cheapest availble so maybe the same as most things in life - you get what you pay for!!

Not sure when i will get a chance to do mine. I was hopeing for start of next year. WABTHEKING, sounds like your setup needs some setting up on the laptop. The bigas setup isnt great, but it should be able to run smoth with little drop in power once setup right. A wideband lambda kit helps to ensure Fueling is ok at all loads rpm.

Kristis, have you any pictures of your setup? Price ? Cheers, des.
