    Hi

I am really glad I found this thread as I thought I would get burned if I asked the question.

Just bought my S4 and am seriously considering lpg on it.

Yes I want a fast car and yes I knew what I was getting economy wise but when you are just making a journey on the motorway, that is when you need to be able to switch over an realise reasonable economy.

I have a friend who has a diesel he has just fitted a water injection kit to. I think there could actually be some good potential with the lpg if we work it a little .

I will be watching this thread closely whilst looking into it myself

The best LPG fitter for turbo cars is based in wales.

I'll speak to my friend at the weekend as they did his T5 and Turbo Land Rover.

They've done an RS2, Volvo T5's etc etc with great sucess.

Oh yeah, thing to remember is LPG needs mapping to the car also what size litre LPG tank do you want? And remember LPG tanks need changing every 10 years regardless of mileage.

personally I haven't had chance to look underneath yet to see if there is any room at all for a tank, or 2 small ones.
The common fitment these days is in the spare wheel well, which with the size of our wheels, should give a good size tank. I need to look into tank sizes and shapes before commiting on that though.

I got chatting to the chap who re-cored my radiator about a month ago. I'm pretty sure he had an S4, twin turbo that he has converted to LPG. He loved it. He noticed a very slight reduction in performance but nothing drastic.
He owns K Allen radiators in Plymouth (google them or chek yell.com)

I can source sequential LPG kits for Audi turbo applications that can easily be fitted by yourself. The price is more than silly - EUR 350.00 for everything (ECU, injectors, vapouriser, connectors, 4BAR MAP sensor,5BAR LPG sensor, ECU tuning program etc. etc.) excluding the LPG tank and copper lines from the tank just because it's cheaper to source it from a local dealer than send it with mail. Also can be fitted on N/A or other turbo cars. This kit is for <8Cyl applications.
              This is my setup

Hi guys i can confirm that a s4 5cyl can get LPG fitted as my work colleague has done this to his S4 Avant he has the latest type of sonic gas injectors and to tell you the truth he gave me a shot of the car to pick our tea one night a i can confidently say it felt crap when you nailed it misfired up the top of the rev range felt sluggish was quite disapointed but if you are a easy driver and never rod the car now and again it felt fine if you like a 1.6 vectra
Have driven many cars on gas audi v8 love gas conversions they run fantastic but this s4 was not a nice experiance
This is just my experiance the garage where i worked did not do the s4 but they have done a few scobbies and they seem fine

baltiboys2, this is just one experience of Yours. I can surely say that everything depends on what type of LPG kit is installed in the car - most of these kits doesn't deliver the power the car needs and is traditionally meant for small low-end 4cyl engines. For example, yellow standard Keihin injectors (Prins/BRC kit) holds aprox 40hp each, which means, it does well on V8 (40x8=320hp), but this doesn't do much on the 5cyl (40x5=200hp) - this means, the engine will run out of breath on LPG and this is an explanation of reduced power level and misfiring. There is more and more factors like the capability of vapouriser, reducer, that in most cases doesn't do much more past 200hp (that's why big engines have 2 of them). The other thing is that none of them is meant for high-boost applications (those ECU's doesn't understand anything past N/A boost levels and drives only on "reading the gasoline injector pulses" - piggy-back) Our kit have it's own 4BAR MAP sensor (The ECU has 2 kinds of programming - one reading from the Motronic "piggy-back like", and the other one - driving the LPG as a standalone application with a help of MAP and other sensors after a road-tune).
I am driving it in my car and if You see from the pics - the engine runs GR3071R and more upgraded bits inside (now tuned for 1.5BAR = 430hp, more boost to come in the spring) -and I can only say that LPG performance is superb!
If someone interested more in the article - PM me.

                    i agree,
you must use the best fully sequential injection systems on the market.i have also worked in the trade for many years and have seen terrible conversions done with cheap equipment.only use an lpga approved installer.but please remember to check your egt if you are running high boost, lpg burns hotter and it is easy to ruin your engine if not set up correctly.

Thanks for You reply, Peter, but I must admit that the key is not the best brand, but the purpose and customization possibilities of the kit. All of these LPG giants makes the systems universal for small-end engines - they have never meant for high-hp engines. Quality doesn't mean performance. Thats why the components of the systems does not have the resources needed to feed the big-hp cars. For example, I know only PRINS system that has experimental Keihin injectors 80hp each, but only one injector costs aprox 3x the original one.
