Sorry to hear the sad news about the car.
Glad you are OK.
I don't have any more advice to give other than has been given already, but certainly follow up the point about the second accident in the same place.

Ex-Polar Silver RS2
Sprint Blue RS4 - new toy :mischeif:
............. I would double check the road surface and also see if you can get any accident stats for that road. It seems a little fishy there are two accidents within days of each other in the same place at the start of winter....
Absolutely what that man said. Something seems amiss........
Sorry to hear the bad news Ross
Its a bitch about the car thankfully you are still hear !! try to keep the car you will make good money by breaking whats left, Than letting the vultures at the insurance companies have it and some breakers yard put it on ebay for bits
I would get your solictor look into the other accident it could help your case there could of been diesel on the road or something like that
Sorry to hear that ross. just spotted this, been offline for a while. I had my S2 written off 2 years ago I know the feelin bro! It all comes right in time. Are you injured? You should be covered under you own policy. Whiplash is common as muck in R.T.A's.
Hope it's not too late, The insurance companies rate write offs in categories A to D; Cat. A being F.U.B.A.R and Cat. D just over the mark.
If it's a category A or B write off the insurance company will try and tell you that it needs to go to an authorised breakers and that they can't release the car to you for legal reasons (in case you repair it and put it back on the road).
This is bullS**T, dont let them try it on, they can release it to you. as mentioned by others on here earlier. it's your car!!
If you push hard enough and write a few stiff letters explaining to them that the interior and engine is concourse and hard to find they will let you have it (eventually). I got offered mine back for £300.
Haggle with them and don't cash their settlement cheque until your happy with the decision and you've got it in writing. As soon as you cash that cheque it becomes THEIR car!
regarding the plod situ. has your neighbor got the details of the other person who had the accident on the same peice of road. Their opinion on those road conditions might come in real handy if it goes to court.
Hope this helps.
