      What an absolute bitch mate.

I remember when I turned my GT4 upside down in a field....

And threw my ZX12R down the road...

Its no consolation but we've been there before.

I'd re-iterate honesty will be the best policy.

Stay calm and always put it into perspective

        Don't know you, but I've been there too and so can remember how you now feel. Try taking the items one by one in manageble bits. Suggest in something like the following order;

        1. No one was hurt.
        2. You're OK.
        3. Sort the police issue, honestly and economically.
        4. Sort out the neighbours garden wall issue.
        5. Take up Corey's or others offer of help to store the car and get it assesed if claiming.
        6. Do not let insurance brow beat you, stick to your guns, assuming you do decide to claim.
        7. Think about the car last, it can be repaired, better still re-shelled. More cost and delay undoubtly, but resolving this whole situation and getting back to where you were beforehand will not be easy, will take time and money whichever way you do it.

One point to consider is that you may have felt that the BMW driver was hesitating and about to stop or was looking for a house, his destination, but had not indicated his intention to pull in to the left? Maybe maybe not.

Additionally, there must have been something on the road surface, diesel/ice or a brake line failure to cause the car step out in a car and on a road that you are extremely familar with as it is near where you live, also it is unlikley that you were going too fast as you would know what is the safe speed for each section of the road as you have travelled it hundreds of times previously?

Best wishes for a full recovery on all fronts.

Oh ***** - that sucks... Can only add words of support here and echo all the other common sense approach here. 1st and foremost nobody is seriously hurt.

The car is still yours so do NOT let the insurance bull you anything otherwise.

The neighbour could be a big problem here, especially if he was so sentimentally attached to his wall - but actually if he has kids that play in the garden then perhaps the concern has little to do with the actual wall.

Others have said it already - don't try and bull the cops either - just not worth the misery if they gather facts which can prove you to be dishonest.

Oh and on a lighter note, I definitely wouldn't take David_in_Dublin's advice too literally about dealing with the cops 'economnically' if you get my drift I'm sure he meant time and lawyers there - not the plod himself.... Then you are in BIG trouble.

                Oh ****!

I’m very sorry to read this Ross. I feel gutted for you.
At least you’re physically ok, and no one was seriously hurt.

I’ve got a BTDT involving a diesel spill and an ornamental flower bed, if that helps.
I got treated like a boy racer that needed the book throwing at him, until I spoke to the police and explained what happened, then it was fine.

I must say it does sound very out of character for your car to act in such a way.
Get the old S2 to a secure location for now and I’m sure it will live again, in one form or another.
Keep Sal and his tow truck away!!

My condolences Ross, **** happens as they say, and your in one piece to quote me on that, so it could have been far worse is the best way to view it from this point on...hope it resolves with minimum backlash and your steed lives to ride another day.
All the best from this end of the world.

OK just to say once again, thanks all for the advice and support! Don't think I'd get through this one without it, I love my S2

The interview with Mr Plod didn't go so well, I told him what I remember (I can't recall specific speeds or details); I think he is happy with any evidence already as he didn't grill me for details. He said based on the testimony of the driver I flew past, he would recommend prosecution for careless driving and I'll await to hear what happens.

Incidentally, about 2 hours after he took my statement a young girl lost control at the exact same point, except she hit a lamppost and several signs before the roundabout, bringing her to a halt before the wall... I doubt they gave her the branding of a boyracer for an almost identical incident at the same spot within 48hrs

Insurance are being fairly cooperative, mods are declared so shouldn't be a problem. Guess it was worth the £400/yr extra I spoke to the guy who's wall I demolished and he was actually pretty nice about it, and mentioned he'd been out to help out with the *other* accident.

I've seen the car, and my what a mess... Imagine squeezing the back-nearside in about 12", and then pushing the nearside-rear quarter in like an accordian. The front passenger wheel has snapped all 9 spokes - the hub is still on the car, but the wheel was sat on the bonnet the roof is slightly domed and the back bumper and spoiler are simply gone. All I can say is I'm grateful for Audi engineering, coz if this had been a little tin-can hot-hatch then this would have been a far sadder story...

Although I couldnt get a proper look, it seems that there's no coolant or oil leakage from the engine, my only wory would be the impact to the wheel could have pushed the driveshaft into the 'box pretty hard and perhaps this could jar the crank? Surprisingly the exhaust is still completely attached and looks to have taken minimal battering!

I'll keep you all updated - some of her will live on, either in a new project or made available as a donor to support other projects in this community!

                    Cheers
                    Ross

sounds a bit suspect if there was a similar accident in the same location, sure there is nothing on the road?

If there was another accident in exactly the same place then that really is too much of a coincidence. Don't let the plod do you over when there's possible evidence that the road is not in a good condition and therefore, the accident was outside of your control. This is of course just my opinion as I have no idea of any sepcifics but worth considering IMHO.

Glad you're ok and that the chap seems to have calmed down over the wall. There are 'plenty' of other S2s around, not necessarily like yours, but you'll have your time again!

                        All the best fella.

Another accident in the same place on the same night? You must tell your insurance AND the copper who "interviewed" you this immediately. Better still, can you find out who the girl who crashed was and see if you can talk to her -you might be able to together defend your cases better against your insurance companies, and it will help you vs. the police?

Sounds like your car is pretty badly bashed up, sorry to hear that.

As I said to you on the phone Ross, I would double check the road surface and also see if you can get any accident stats for that road. It seems a little fishy there are two accidents within days of each other in the same place at the start of winter....

                                Good luck mate.
