    New ebay bidding process

If the bidding in the auction goes above £100, then you'll not be able to see the indentities of the people you are bidding against. Seller can still see the indentities of all bidders though.

    See here..
and here for an auction example.

    Jas..

Looks like its an attempt to stop people with similar auctions contacting second placers with an offer for sale to them...
Either way, we know its not about better auctions, its always going to mean more money for ebay............

Actually, it ain't that bad after all. I'm selling my Maserati on the bay at the moment, and when I look at who's bidding a pop up window appears and then it allows me to see there past 30 day bidding history which is damn helpful to see if the bidder is actually genuine!

for example, I have this person bidding:
                        Item 1 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Maserati 4 Seller 1 9d 14h 7m 9s
                        Item 2 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 2 2h 22m 8s
                        Item 3 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 5 Seller 2 1m 24s
                        Item 4 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 2 Seller 2 4m 2s
                        Item 5 Mobile & Home Phones > Multimedia Cards/ Memory 1 Seller 3 1d 6h 15m 31s
                        Item 6 Mobile & Home Phones > Multimedia Cards/ Memory 1 Seller 3 41m 48s
                        Item 7 Mobile & Home Phones > Multimedia Cards/ Memory 1 Seller 3 31m 57s
                        Item 8 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 2 1m 30s
                        Item 9 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 2 1m 5s
                        Item 10 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 2 Seller 2 56s
                        Item 11 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 2 4m 7s
                        Item 12 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 4 6m 33s
                        Item 13 Jewellery, Gems, Watches > Jewellery Supplies > Findings 1 Seller 5 3h 10m 7s
                        Item 14 Jewellery, Gems, Watches > Loose Beads > Metal Beads 1 Seller 5 36m 39s
                        Item 15 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Mixed Lots 1 Seller 6 34s
                        Item 16 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 3 Seller 2 17s
                        Item 17 Jewellery, Gems, Watches > Wholesale, Bulk Lots > Fashion, Costume Jewellery 1 Seller 7 9h 57m 31s
                        Item 18 Jewelry & Watches > Handcrafted, Artisan Jewelry > Necklaces & Pendants 1 Seller 8
                        Item 19 Jewellery & Watches > Fine Jewellery > Earrings 1 Seller 8 40s
                        Item 20 Jewellery & Watches > Fine Jewellery > Necklaces/ Chains 1 Seller 8 47s
                        Item 21 Jewelry & Watches > Handcrafted, Artisan Jewelry > Necklaces & Pendants 1 Seller 8 53s
                        Item 22 Jewellery & Watches > Fine Jewellery > Necklaces/ Chains 1 Seller 8 1m 2s
                        Item 23 Jewellery & Watches > Jewellery Boxes & Supplies > Jewellery Packaging 1 Seller 9 6h 12m 54s
                        Item 24 Jewellery & Watches > Jewellery Boxes & Supplies > Findings & Jewellery Making 1 Seller 9 5h 46m 46s
                        Item 25 Jewellery & Watches > Jewellery Boxes & Supplies > Findings & Jewellery Making 1 Seller 9 5h 43m 56s
                        Item 26 Jewellery & Watches > Jewellery Boxes & Supplies > Findings & Jewellery Making 1 Seller 9 5h 39m 43s
                        Item 27 Jewellery & Watches > Jewellery Boxes & Supplies > Findings & Jewellery Making 1 Seller 9 5h 51m 41s
                        Item 28 Health & Beauty > Make-Up/ Cosmetics > Brushes/ Applicators 1 Seller 10 1h 5m 38s
                        Item 29 Wholesale & Job Lots > Jewellery & Watches > Costume Jewellery 1 Seller 11 17s
                        Item 30 Jewellery & Watches > Beads > Crystal & Glass 1 Seller 11 15s
which looks bloody strange to me! Why would anyone who buys crystal beads suddenly bid on this item, and then this person:

                        Item 1 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Maserati 1 Seller 1 8d 22h 45m 15s
                        Item 2 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Automobilia > Badges & Mascots 1 Seller 2 4h 26m 22s
                        Item 3 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Car Manuals & Literature > Maserati 1 Seller 3 4h 7m 47s
                        Item 4 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Citroen 1 Seller 4 23h 50m 47s
                        Item 5 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Citroen 2 Seller 5 2h 39m 39s
                        Item 6 Consumer Electronics > Satellite/ Cable/ Freeview > Cable Boxes 1 Seller 6 1d 3h 18m 51s
                        Item 7 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Car Parts > Jaguar 1 Seller 7 6d 23h 28m 37s
                        Item 8 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Alfa Romeo 1 Seller 8 6d 12h 10m 46s
Item 9 Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Cars > Alfa Romeo
who obviously has an interest in cars, but what the ****, he's recently been bidding on a sh1troen!!!

You could see all that info before though. They've just made it easier
Same as people who have their feedback as "private" even if it is 100%.
You can still see what they've bought/sold and are bidding on in the last 30 days. Always have been able to do this.
I rarely sell, certainly don't sell anything over £100 and wouldn't risk selling a car, not saying it's dodgy to do so, just can't be ****d with the numpty questions, scammers trying to give you 3 million US dollars from Nigeria and people "expecting" to get it cheap just because it's on ebay.
If I buy anything over £100 it's usually using "buy it now" on normal ebay or through ebay express.

I've never noticed that before and I've been using eBay for 6 years regularly!!
Maybe they've made it easier for lazy arses like me!!!

To be honest, selling a car on eBay ain't that bad. I've probably sold 15 on there over the past few years, and 95% sell before the auction ends anyway! For me, it's just a good way of advertising for a reasonable price. If you pull the auction early, it's still 3 times cheaper than Auto Trader, and I can have any amount of pics I want on there and really beef up the listing which you can't do on Auto Trader.

Can never understand people who list cars then put up one or two lame *** camera phone pics and expect the get full asking price for the vehicle!
I've got 13 pics on mine, all big as well and the listing took me an hour to type up!

Myke, I thought that was a change for all Ebay, including the U.S. one. I noticed a change like that on Ebay.com a little while ago.
