Power to weight of these things is silly and dont forget power at the wheels/weight makes us look even worse.
having come from a Mk2 Golf with about 270bhp i reckon you would need about 450bhp at the crank to match it by the time you factor in the 4wd trans losses.
Of course in the wet its a different story but then no self respecting driver of a FWD car with 250+bhp is going to even bother in the wet so you wouldnt even get a sniff out of them.

    Pete.

scary and dangerous trying to find out who is the fastest yawn but would rather have the S2 over any other car RS4 an ecception.

Well his previous motor was stolen just after it was delivered from the dyno, so budget meant he had to go to carbs on the second engine.

raced a 2.0 16v turbo corsa with 277bhp when we had a rolling road day.(mine came out at 253bhp,only because well lanes' rollers don't recognise the 60/40 split apparently).i was right on his ***.

If a Corsa was making 277bhp mate youd be a speck in the rear view mirror - no question.
If you were on his **** he either wasnt trying or was a crap driver or both - you cannot argue with physics im affraid.

Hands up who really cares if a little stripped out shopping trolley can out drag them.

Quite simply if you want to compete with charged up death traps then don't start with a heavy car. Either find another shopping trolley (corsa, saxo, clio, civic) or buy a bike.

IMHO I am quite happy for the little ******s to pass me cause I know that they will soon end up as road furniture attachments. Good luck to them.

                    Just my thoughts.

Having seen the power and torque that Ross's car produced it isn't going to be far off! A GT30RS then!

It's all very well having all that power and torque from a 2.0 turbo in a FWD car but if you can't put it on the road then it's not going to accelerate you. An LSD or similar will help but it's still not ideal. I struggled with a standard mk.2 Golf 8v at times, although it was on 185/60R14s... not recommended (the tyres that it, the car was great fun!) Even RWD can be a bit of a handful with 300bhp+

What about one of these to show the Corsa boys what's what!
