    Building a garage...

Right... I've got 14' by 30' (ish) to build a little home for the S2. My aim is to build the widest possible garage but the length is yet to be decided.

Why am I telling you this? Well I need some inspiration. I've been digging the foundations all day and I'm shattered. Whilst I was digging I was planning what to do inside the garage.

The floor - Perfectly level and painted white (so you can find that blasted nut you dropped) .

The walls - Perfectly flat and painted white (yes I know, there is a theme here).

Lighting - LOTS (to help you fing that nut)!

What I would like is for any of you lot to put up some pictures of your garages or to post some ideas or lessons that you learnt from designing/building any garages.

I will be posting some pictures to show you how this projest progresses if anyone is interested.

You could go for the cheaper option, although it would involve more digging I'm afraid.

Aparently you are allowed to build upto 4m high with an apexed roof. If I do get a lift(???) them I will be going all the way up. Will have to get the trusses in the right place mind.

I'm going with block walls as the garage will be at the bottom of the garden. I want the peace of mind. It will get a bespoke alarm system with full auto closure and lock down.

A mate of mine reckons he knows a man with a lift so I will make some enquiries. Anybody got any other ideas of what to put in it?

A nice big solid bench attached to the wall/floor and a nice big strong vice on it. A press for changing bushes and bearings.

                        Running water and drainage.
                        Floor and wall lighting.
                        Plenty of shelving.
If you are doing a compressor have it in a seperate building (protect it from frost though) as if you are in there all day the noise is tiresome.
Mirrored ceiling (no wait that's the bedroom)

Everyones missed the most important must have, HEATING! Really good heating and no gaps for stuff to blow in. Loads of light and a wee bunk so you can kip in it when the missus gets too much

                              Too rite!!

My missus dad built our extension and double garage and we got him to put central heating in there as well! The walls are white which makes it so much lighter!
We painted the floors brick red, but it'll need redoing again soon so may go with light blue next time!

Most important room in the house!

and how it looks at the moment.

Still in bits 2 years on!
