As much as thats an interesting read the trials apply to the 1.8T engines in general not the I5.
a) Revo can't do that to an S2 so it's not applicable, unless theres a ODB II port that all S2 owners aren't aware off!
b) We are talking about a remap not a trial, we have no evidence showing Revo's remaps give less than stock on an S2 i dont think this is worth arguing about.
Back on topic critically I forgot to mention that S2Central also sell a tried and tested generic chipped call the "home fries" which quite a few members have happily run on a S2 and they are great for the owner who wants a little added poke and are on a budget.
At the Rolling Road event stock S2's were seeing generally between 270-275 BHP and 300+ ft/lb of torque on an ABY engine
You pays your money and take your choice.
If you want a full engine remap then MRC have given very good results to forum members. If you want a generic chip then i wouldn't pay for an MTM chip buy a home frie for half the price.Comment

Yeh, my problem with QST is they dont recognise there is more than one way to skin a cat and that you must pay them loads of cash to go a route that is possible on a fraction of the budget.
This is where other companies such as Corey's and MRC give you an impartial view, there's not many people around like that now days.
Their have been "unproven" reports saying that they slate this forum because we cannot be getting the power out the cars we claim with standard K24 and RS2 turbo's and that you must upgrade to their MTM hybrid turbo's.
If you want an impartial view of QST speak to AAH.
He had terrible problems with his RS2 before joining up here and with a bit of help from various members alot of problems were resolved such as QST did not alligning the cams correctly so the RS2 would not boost via the ecu. To correct this they installed a manual boost system instead of realligning the cams.
Othere members such as Stevieyid swear by QST.
If it were my money i wouldn't give it to them as i dont believe you get what you pay for in terms of value.Comment

Dont really know what Kims MTM chip is like but i do know they do give a great service, well to me they do anyway. I think he gets a lot time wasters in there to be honest.
I have an MRC remapp and im very pleased with it. The drive home is the best part so make the most of it.

I have a simple way of deciding. Do a search on this forum (and RS246) re MRC and do the same for the options. Questions like this tend to get answers from those with very good or very bad experiences. By doing what I suggest you will get a more rounded view.
Oh and I investigated many tuning options myself. I have had tuned cars on and off for more than 15 years (initially SAAB abbott brothers). I have nothing but praise for the custom remap route. I had the added advantage of talking to Mihnea about tuning during my custom remap ( Fife to garage meet) and this guy lives and breaths 'motronic'.
No one else in the U.K. does realtime custom remaps for the RS2/S2...it really is as simple as thatAlastair

There's approx 50 people around the world using the ABY 'home fries' now.As much as thats an interesting read the trials apply to the 1.8T engines in general not the I5.

Dyno results vary as there has to be an element of margin in such generic chips. My car dyno'd 280bhp and 430Nm (on Optimax with over 100k miles on the original turbo) - but as Jamo says there are others who have seen figures in the 270bhp and 410Nm.
Hardly what I'd call 'a little added poke' - and all for about half the cost of a custom remap and the ability to try before you buy !
BTW - I'm not against MRC and the custom remap crew - they do an amazing job with an ability to customise the software to funky turbos, fuel systems, bigger MAFs, weird camshafts etc etc. This costs more of course, but does provide the maximum potential from whatever performance mods have been made.

Just to add, with a performance back-box and a homefries my old 3B pulled a trusty 285bhp and 430nm.. think that's a record?! That was before I owned it though, only got faster since then. But unfortunately a little deformed too
Homefries on my Avant feels quite strong, still not quite got used to overboost or how/when it kicks in (seems intermittent!) but I'd estimate it at 270 or thereabouts. Of course, if you're going custom then it's on-the-road mapping of course

285 are good figures mate. I got 281HP on the rollers at QST with my MRC S2. Thats was before i got the 3'' exhaust. It was discovered when fitting the exhaust that the cats had smashed up and got lodged in the exhaust. So i think there is more power in there now, which is not bad from a k24Comment
