Yes, as mr Nuvo says. 5/16 (8mm) copper pipe. Most decent motor factors sell it.
    Then a pipe flarer: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...pe-flaring-kit

Just position your pipe in the holder, use the big "T" handle part and not the insert, this will give the cone shape flare you are after!
Don't forget to the unions on first!
I usually feed the unflared pipe up from below, do your engine bay bends then flare and screw together, back under the car and finish off at the tank end.
    Same for the return pipe.

Just dragged up this thread as I've got to replace the fuel lines for the mot.
Although I haven't dug too deep yet, it seems there's 3 fuel lines running together from front to back - all under the off side.
My question is - why 3? Surely its just fuel and return?
I'm sure there all 8mm where as the brake line (running down the nearside) is the normal, smaller diameter.
Any ideas? and extra tips on replacing the lines?
        cheers boys ......

This is the sort of pipe (Kunifer-copper/nickel alloy):
            http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-16-X-25-FT-C...QQcmdZViewItem
a good pipe bender,to get a nice smooth curve: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIPE-BENDER-FO...QQcmdZViewItem
and the pipe flarer that GT500 posted, nice for flaring in situ.
Try and get the old pipe off in as small a number of pieces as poss so you have a pattern- you may need to remove parts etc
Also try to make sure that no part of the pipe rubs on the body (a common mistake as it's obviously dangerous and an MOT failure)
good luck- bit of a long messy job, but not the worst (also a lot cheaper that paying a garage to do it)
Worth picking up a few unions, just to be safe-you may round the old ones, and nothing worse than being 1/2 way thru the job and having to go out and get some!!
Oh yes, REMEMBER to put unions on before flaring the pipe-BTDT

Thanks for the advice - its always the same tho ain't it? You repeat in your head - 'remember to put the unions on first' 'remember to put the unions on first' 'remember to put the unions on first' 'remember to put the unions on first' - then something distracts you and before you know it! - DOH!
