having problem sourcing driver

Hi folks wondered if anyone can help with my problem

I am trying to load driver from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

The VCP one but when i open file with RAR it does not have install added to list of files

Am i missing something here?

Needing the driver to work with VAG.com lead that bought off ebay

Forgot one thing i am loading onto laptop i have just bought for vag,com and it is running Windows 98

Have downloaded driver from Alpha website also.....had this problem with last laptop but cant remeber what i had to do to fix it

Cant see lead as in port all i can see in device manager is port COM 4 device is working properly through (properties)

HAve went through the update thing and that did not work could not find driver??

dos file were on RAR list?

My vag-com lappy, (old Toshiba) is running win 98 and has two usb ports. Both work fine as long as you have the correct driver. I'm using one of them to run FA 7 from a memory stick.
I use the serial port for vag-com though.

Hmm. I should qualify that by saying that it has limited support (USB 1.0 devices only).

Just had a look on ebay, some of these leads say they work on win95.. So what do I need to get this going for my 3B then? Its got the old black white and blue connectors in the fuse box.

They must be serial leads rather than USB items to run under Win95. Some of the these leads work some don't. I think Jas will be able to advise you of a reputable seller.

Earlier versions (serial interface support) are shareware and require registration. Later versions require the purchase of a genuine diagnostic interface (USB support) which acts as a dongle and performs license validation.

right i have the laptop registering the new hardware but not the driver so no USB problem just the driver any ideas fellas?
