Ross, I am so sorry to hear what happened mate.
Remember it was because of your car and the openess of your experiences that I chose to mod my (R)S2 to a similar spec: GT3071 with RS2 airbox. and the little change to the engine mounting all expressed by your experiences.

You and your project car are a wealth of knowledge to this forum and I wish you have it all sorted out soon, and no doubt, we will all learn from it.

This post has given me even more respect for quattronics than I already had. They have taken that car back and are doing everything they can to sort this situation which is a lot more than a lot of the garages do. Infact thats better than audi themselves! Even if corey accidentally dropped a bag of sand into the engine, mistakes happen and thats what seperates us from machines, and I dont like giving machines money, at least humans can use that money to get wasted and laid.

So.. erm.. is daiseyfunk fighting ross's battles here? My dad said that his mechanic said that his uncles borthers anti's boyfriend's car had an engine swap and it blew up half the M6 ? muahahaha.. im just messing cmon guys smile

Jokes aside sorry to hear about your car ross

Ski: Firstly, the name is "Daisfunky" but just call me Laura.
It's good to see someone else on this forum has the same humour as moi.

There are currently no updates on the S2, as soon as any come up, Ross will post. *fingers crossed* that the car isn't irrepairable. *Eeek*

So there's no pressure from me and Corey is not dragging his feet if that's what is in question.

As for this project being in the public domain, it's been that way since the start of Project 400 - to be honest my car is well known so it was always going to be that way; Corey knew this when he took the project on so any comments that this shouldn't be in the public domain are invalid I'm afraid. Whether it's ok to be discussed on the forum is up to the mods.

            Cheers

I have no problem with this, if you gain business via a forum expect feedback via a forum as well. That is the pro's and cons of internet business.

I would ask you keep comments to a civilised level though.

My own personal thoughts on this as this failure has occurred on more than one occasion have the car inspected by an independant engineer there are forum members more than qualified to be able to produce this report.

I would also personally want to know what the failure was with the original 3B block so that it could be compared to the failure on the new ABY block.

As the buzz words in my I.T support industry, what is the "root cause" of failure and how can it be minimise or prevented.

I agree with Jamo about the fact that its in the public eye. Ross has been talking about his car all over the net.

I also agree with the fact that if you run your business with a heavy forum involvment, then you have to take the rough with the smooth, and its all in the public's view.

Mistakes do happen, but to prevent them from re-occuring, you have to pin point the source of the problem. Ie with the loss of compression, what was the actual failure? What was the final cause of the problem?? Cracked block? Leaking valve? Broken ring?

Im not trying to stir things up here. I am not making comment as to who is to blame. That doesnt interest me. It would just be nice to have a definitive answer as to the original problem. It might help others find a similar problem in the future.

So come on Ross, what was wrong with it before you got it back this time? Do you have the broken part to show us?

Answers on a postcard... should be ready for the final draw next week!

No ideas on the original block issue, none yet for the new failure. Time will tell
