Just my thoughts, I can appreciate where Bo is coming from but there's a balance... basically in agreement with Dan.

There's technical forums for technical posts; places for pictures, detailing info, event info etc etc.

AND there's an Open-Topic area for random banter, funnies, bored-at-work chatting with like-minded friends etc.

All these add up to a great community and friendly spirit about the place. We can't all be working on projects, Audi and S2 related to document all the time, and it's still nice to be a part of the community. I'd hope we can still have a laugh and not be too hasty to get upset when there's a few random threads from time to time...

Certainly agree that technical threads need to keep on-topic and we don't want pages of random threads with the odd tehnical picking. But i hardly think we're anywhere near that situation are we.

Sorry if this is a bit of a rant back but i just felt as if this thread was pointing a little down the "if it ain't audi-related ****** off" road and that would be very sad.

    Cheers

No not at all it's pointing to the fact there is less new car related content being added to the forum but an increase in "random" and repeat question threads.

We're not saying if it aint technical dont post it, hell i'd be bored sh*tless waiting to post if that was the case

It's all about moderation (not necessarily the Jamo kind) a little bit of randomness is tolerable/ignorable.

I also think there is a difference between an open topic thread relating to a funny site, video, joke, story, life event that people will find interest in and the thread equivalent to a blatant cry of Look At Me!

Chaps, Its already been summed up on here a few times. But there are areas in the forum for on topic discussions in the technical area, open topic for general forum banter, funnies etc etc and MSN/IM programs for one to one chats.

Please keep on topic in the main forum areas and use the open topic for general banter, but try to keep on the topic that the thread is created for. And as has been said, moderation isnt totally clear cut, but a balance has to be struck and keep everyone happy. Happy posting Lets see if we can get the forum a bit more back to normality with the friendly technical and open topic discussions that we are all used to.

Le mans would be great one.

Mad Friday is a real blast and the drive down has brilliant scenery and smooth roads so my car won't rattle

If you've never been. it's well worth it and as mentioned already would be a great chance to put some faces to the names.

What I thought might be a good idea is to have a section where everyone puts in what wheel spec they use. Partly because I want to know if 235/40 17"s will fit easily but I thought if everyone entered what offset, tyre size etc they have on everyone could see what they could put on if they fancied a change. Just a thought, I certainly don't have the know how to figure it out

Thats not a bad idea chen, could have a spreadsheet of tyre sizes to start off with or a little DB add on for the forum if someone is feeling technical this week and wants to make a PHP mysql based one?
