Have you had the seats retrimmed - I thought they were black when I saw them in the back of the van up't north. It all works really well in there !!

I'm even more impressed if you've dyed them - they look as good as new. What products did you use - was it difficult to do?
Unlike you I've not made much progress, in fact the bumper has just moved out of your garage into mine ! I keep looking out for some indicators and fogs to suit it at a reasonable price. I haven't even given much thought as to how the grills can be attached, never mind the brackets to mount it. I'll have to get all that sorted then have it painted so it could be a couple of years before it gets anywhere near the car !!

Specialist wood, leather and fabric repair and restoration products including leather cleaners and conditioners, leather dye and leather restoration, wood stain beeswax polish and wood oils.
Thats the company i used. Theyre very very helpful and the kits come with absolutely everything you need. Id suggest you use their colour match service and get the adaptor to allow you to use the air brush with a compressor as opposed to the propellent cylinders they supply in the kitS2 Cabriolet.........

already n hand.
Trying to find somewhere that does replca carbon or similar that has the blue weave as it was never available for the cab.
Wheels wll be 9 or 9.5" RH zw's 2 pece splts. Its also gong to get a bloody big wack with the lowering stick.
Still indecided about the chrome, somedays i lke t others i dont. Considering a carbon overlay or piano black to match the hardtopS2 Cabriolet.........

You're ahead of me so,
Any photos of the intended rims, sound very wide if you're lowering. May make the ride not so pleasant even though it will look good lowered?
Not sure where you'd get it done but a friend had the chrome blacked out on a car by a contractor who covered it with "black tape" professionally. Obviously looked way better than black tape? This would allow you to do it and still be able to change back. Just thinking about it, a contractor who wraps the paint-work on cars should be able to do it for you no bother?
Either way, please post more photos of the car when it gets de-chromed or new rims?
Kind regards.Last edited by macspring; 19 April 2009, 22:48.Comment

WTF - are you seriously saying those seats were blue and you dyed them beige to match the other leather trim ? Its come up an absolute treat I must say... In the photos anyway - is that impressive in the flesh ?
The colour suits the car. Good taste that man !

You get enough tramlining on the S2 with 8J on a 225... I think 9 is too big.
I personally think the chrome looks nice with the red and the beige (I hate calling it beige when it looks that nice) interior. With black insulating tape you could try one side of the car to see if you like the look from a distance - it'll look kak up close until properly blacked out - but don't commit until certain.Paul Nugent

im a picky ****** so i pick holes in it tbh. Dont get me wrong its in no way a substitute for a decent retrim, but it s an alternative when youre on a tight budget like me. We had dye left over from redying the tan recaros in my wifes corrado so i used that. More of a buttery colour compared to the ecru.
The results are very good if you take your time but its in no way perfect. Most noticeable is the stitching as this obviously gets dyed also. Ive got a few marks in mine that im not happy with but the advantage is you can just rub it down and redye it. It can also be used on pastics as ive used it on some of the trim on the seats (i also redyed the gear shift gaitor from black).
Its in now way a show car standard but im happy with it, especially for the cost. Even the large kits come in at under £100.Compared to upwards of a grand for a good retrim its an excellent compromise. If your refurbng your leather in the original colour or dying it a darker colour, its perfect, however, again the only downside is the stitching being died.

Theyre a very high et so there room to play with along with the right tyre choice.
Theres quite a few companies over here that do vynil wrapping on cars so ill be trying one of them. As you say if done right its very hard to tell its not paint.S2 Cabriolet.........
