    S,

I see your point of view, but I like one that I can drive everyday as a daily, rather than just track days.

Good luck with the sale, hope it goes to an appreciative owner.

    Kind regards.

ha ha the cat comes free with the car - like one of those garfield things - stuffed head first into the front grill !

Thanks for your compliment but it isn't perfect - I don't want to mislead anyone! Its close, but could do with the front subframe dropping & powder coating, and some people would want the small stone chip repairs done properly (my paint skill are not great, but at least they stop the rust!!)
AND there's the fact that its almost standard (bar complete exhaust system, home fry, samco's, 17" alloys, whiteline RARB, Koni shocks, RS2 calipers, A8 312mm discs.......)

            S,

As you say not perfect, but a very good base to start with, and a very significant number of "essential" sensible works / upgrades already done.

Better that the general standard of cars for sale, worth the money, should be bought by a newbie looking to get started, and they'd get a very good head start, more than they'll probably appreciate.

            Kind regards.

When I was a newbie (not too long ago) I'd have been on the next plane over for this. It is what I would want, a fairly standard car with the mechanicals in great order. I thought that's what I was buying, but I found out it wasn't and now I'd need to spend the £1000's that you have spent to get it up to the standard of yours.

It makes me sad to think what I paid for mine in complete standard form (rusty suspension and all)

You're right - I have all the past owners details, it spent 7 (I think) years up there. I contacted the original owners - they said it was the best car they'd ever had! They ran a poultry farm from memory......

                    Car No Longer For Sale

Right - you've all had your chance!
No takers so I'm pulling the advert.
Car will go into storage until such time as it fits back in with my family's requirements (could be some time )
After tracking it at Oulton last weekend, I have decided its too good to sell.
It behaved faultlessly, no brake fade, no handling issues, no funny noises and it held its own against some very pricey machinery. (damp track helped)

Maybe for sale again at some time in the future - so for anyone looking at this thread in late 2011 - give me a shout, I may have changed my mind!

As my better half will not drive the S2, I am forced to go on the hunt for an A6 avant 2.7 tdi, preferably with all the toys, something around 3-4 years old, so if any of you know of anything suitable, let me know.

                    Thanks again
                    Alex

Good Decision, looks and sounds like a lovely machine and has sentimental value :-)

I dont know if Simon (the purchaser) is on here?
But I do hope he does so that I can keep an eye on him
He'll look after the old girl and is going to treat her to the new turbo I never got around to fitting, so I'm happy (well, as happy as I can be having just lost my 2nd favourite car ever!)
I'll keep in touch, I learnt a lot during the rebuild and am happy to help the less experienced where i can!
