I think that john will be retiring that old cowp to a glass case in the museum once the S2 is fired up!

Interesting thread this is becoming John!! A lot of good history and good previous owners sounds like you've got a gem. I will be interested to hear what you think of the comparisons between your Coupe and the S2? I owned a coupe like yours before my S2 and loved it but thought the power difference from the 2.3 20v to the S2 was incredible!! Just wish I kept it lolLeave a comment:

Ahhhh, its good to hear the person who bought it from my friends father didn't 'asset strip' the car and just trade it on straight away
If the bells and rotors were cracking, you had no choice by to remove them, would have been lethal if one had let go under braking!
Those calipers had been on the car since circa 1996, so the set up had done well to last that long
As Kit already mentioned, it sounds like you did a lot of work to the car to get it running right again! Sounds like someone had tried to modify it further without really knowing what they were doing - ie. the turbo.
In the first 12 years it really did get looked after, and before they went bust in a bad way, AmD Bicester were a good outfit back in the day. I remember driving across in convoy to AmD once to drop it off, I got shouted at for poking my head through the roller shutter door after the mechanic had driven the car into the workshop hahaLeave a comment:

I removed the Porsche brakes as the rotors were in bad shape and the bells had cracks around the fixing holes where the bells and rotors bolt together. And yes they were turned down rotors to fit under the 16" wheels
As kit stated the car had been messed with a bit and a variety of parts critical to big power had been removed. I did buy the complete Wagner setup - but decided I had better things to sink my cash into. Sold all the stuff I bought boxed as new, and put K15 back to stock.
I took off the turbo which was causing the smoke issues, 550C injectors, ECU, MAF and exhaust. And no - I no longer have any of it!
Hope that clears things up a bit

The badge pictured was probably removed before they were repainted. In Tristans pic I think you can just see the recess in the wheel where the badge would have sat
Thinking about it, the Porsche brakes cannot possibly be the full GmbH 322mm RS2 set up, they wouldn't fit inside 16s, I'd imagine it was running 304mm discs perhaps?Leave a comment:

Yeah I sold them because Snow tyres seemed overkill for me, not like you in Mid-Wales
I remember when I put them up for sale I couldn't find any identification of what they were...

Well spotted Ian... After you mentioned them and an image was posted I thought they were the same - I didn't paint them - that must have been a previous owner.
Were the wheels worth something? I let them go with the car as a spare set - they had Yoko M&S tyres on. Pretty sure Jack let them go for a snip!
.....then Tristan then Jack
Yeah, the first owner sold it around Sept Oct 2005.
Viewed Tristans 2013 for sale ad last night, I'm sure the pic of his black painted winter wheels stacked up in the garage are the Mille Miglia alloys, so maybe these stayed with the car longer than I thought
Superb that it's stayed on the forum John.
