  • 80 tdi engine tweeks?

Looking at trying to get a wee bit more from the tdi I've just bought.
I've read a bit in the DagDag thread about fitting injector nozzles from the 2.5 and was thinking of going this route...........then I saw this on e-bay and am thinking this would be nice and easy !!....... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TDI-Chip-T...item2558460898
    .....any good ?
I'm not looking at spending load$ but just fancy a bit more poke.
    Thanks in advance.
    John.

Use a better intake manifold and also a VNT turbocharger , swap the ECU get it tuned and you can get 130-140 bhp. For more you need to think about the clutch .

ManiacuV6....thanks,what are the VNT's usually fitted to?

          4WheelDrifter....helpful?

bikerjim....will likely go this route to begin with, that was my reason for asking about the tuning box.......surely just an expensive resistor?!

          Thanks chaps.

The AFN has VNT (96 ish a4 1.9tdi, Passat) 110 bhp stock, chips to 130ish.

PD has more power and more potential.

The tdiclub forums are worth a read and a few searches, with all the basic mods, and upgrades, what turbos fit what manifolds etc.

ok thanks Andy, will be staying away from the PD motor. Will check out tdiclub.
              Cheers.

1.9 TDI PD engines from VAG are good. Mine has 200.000 MILES and still going strong.
                You can use a PD turbocharger from a 130BHP ( PAssat , A4 or A6) aka. Gt1749VA and you will get a reliable 165 bhp .
Tuning a 1Z, if you know your stuff, is a peace of cake .
You can get a reliable 185BHP but I cannot remember the torque figure. After that you'll need better rods

                  I don't know my stuff...that's why I'm here !!
Joking aside all my cars so far have been standard and while there's nothing I won't tackle on my cars.....tuning diesels isn't something I've done before.
Not knocking the PD but I like the simplicity of the 1Z.
