Very very VERY nice project mate! Are you even upgrading the engine? Stay with the AAT 116bhp quattro gearbox, it has the 4,111:1 final ratio that matches the S4 rear differential. The AEL 140hp from the A6 c4 uses a longer final ratio...OR swap the rear diff too as a solution. I want the AAT gearbox on mine to reduce consumption, but I will stay (for now) with my S6 gasoline 2.2t with some mods...I also planned to make it diesel with a tuned AAT or AEL hopefully with over 300bhp....but for now I stay like this with my LPG system too. Cheers!

what about making a kind of reverse job?
Building a 2.5 stroker tuned petrol engine with a BIG turbo and a LOT of hp starting from an AEL A6 quattro chassis/transmission?
Does the engine needs to be pulled out from the car and opened?sigpic

if you will using urS4 gearbox on AEL you will get much quicker car than stock A6 2.5TDI , but other thing is very low top speed ! , maybe 170km/h , actualy try to drive your 2.2T on 4000rpm in 6. speed ! that will be TOP speed !
good thing is that 1. , 2. , 3. speed are the same on both gearbox , so your 2.5tdi with CBL box will be the same like DQT box , 4 , 5, 6, will be much slower !
now is one other question... maybe you can use TDI FWD gears and put it in CBL box..
don't know if it is possible..

Some 5 years ago I made this kind of job.
URS4 2,2 20vt was replaced with 2.5tdi AAT.
For me this kind of job took 20 hours - I drowe my petrol engine in garage and after 20 hours I started diesel engine. Plus some more hours to put all the bumpers, and saloon parts back. But I can advise you to use both intercoolers - in diesel and petrol cars they are placed different - one is under left wing, one under right wing. Only what you need is a inlet manifold from volvo diesel - it will be reversed. Nice cooling. After you can go to bigger nozzles, vnt turbocharger and 1.9tdi ECU and you will get a rocket with low consuption.
About gearbox - if you will choose to put an front wheel drive gearbox to URS4, it will be a porn.
Better take a gearbox from diesel quattro - A6 C4, A6 c5 etc.
There were a question about stroker and diesel gearbox - normaly me and my friends vere using these gearboxes for our projects.
If you need volvo inlet, I can provide you with it, just give me a PM!
