Don't get too excited. I will be asking for payback from all you blokes when I need non-existant-in-the-U.S. parts for my S2 conversion.

I got Marco's specs last night. Who else would like to get in on this?

      Thanks!

My project just took a turn for the worse, i won't be ordering pistons for a while. You should go ahead without me.
        Thanks for the effort

Do the stock pistons not have any dish at all? The "squish volume" is addressed by the shape of the chamber in the head?

What (static) compression ratio are you planning on running Dave?

            Thanks,

              I will be running 9.0:1
The pistons has a small dish as stock. I will get a photo up.

Has this order gone ahead? if not i will be interested if i can get a piston that will work in the stroker i am going to build. That would meen a larger dish to get the CR to 8.5:1 where i want it on the longer stroke. Can this be done? Thanks, des.

I am getting a set of these. Mark is a strong possibilty as well. Dave (desmo888) is sorting it out. I think he was hoping to place the order today or very soon. Best to send him a PM asap.

I have specified my pistons to have a deeper dish to reduce CR from 9.3 to 8.7:1. I also have to have 81.5mm diameter due to the block getting overbored because of scoring. Other requirements on mine are it has to be capable of 550bhp and 700Nm.

Thanks, doug. i may hold off for a while as i havent even got the TDI block yet to put them in :0. Just a bit over eager i think. I may just get the rods soon then the pistons later as my ££ recovers. Restoring a URQ is hard on my pocket.

Looks like we are going with JE or Wiseco...
Each of us have our own reasons. Should run only a little more than Ross...

You should consider standard pistons - they are reputed to be good for 600bhp.

I'm still not sure what to go for.

I am leaning towards the standard pistons too, as waiting for JE's or Wiseco's is going to hold things up, the only thing that worries me with the standard Mahle/Karl Shmidt pistons is how much can be machined off of the crowns safely, cos I need the C/R dropped and the valve pockets deepened slightly to match the skim on the head.
Dave (Desmo 888) any idea how long a group buy on JE or Wiseco will take?

                              Cheers,

                              Mark.

Wiseco was 5-6 weeks for pistons according to Justin yesterday.

Mark - have you chopped a piston in half? I have 5 duffers I could do that with if you want some measurements.
