Thats just my opinion BTW - I run neither bars, but it feels like the most logical approach to give us incremental options from already known situations.

Others may have a different viewpoint - I am no chassis guru !

No worries Paul it sounds like the best idea so people can then play about as to what they like best. Im not sure if they can make them adjustable and i assuming that it would affect price but ill see what they come up with

They *have* to be adjustable... look at how whiteline does it for example...

Get hold of a 24mm front bar from a stock 80. That was nice when combined with a OE 26mm front bar. If the company you are dealing with can measure torsional stiffness then that would be a good max setting

My setup and Error's are a tad different and both are different to the OE setup.

Substantially increasing the stiffness of the RARB removes a lot of that Audi understeer and gives you options when cornering. Well worth it

See what I mean - my gambit was 20mm using Whiteline material but Andy's gambit is 24mm of Audi material... definitely worth having them both tested.

Ill drop them another email to see whether they can measure torsional differences. They have replied to my email about making the adjustable and this was there reply:

HI Steve, I think what they are refering to is the drop link posistion? The roll bar stays as is i.e 20mm rear and the you have drop links to adjust the pivot points, I think that is what they mean? Either way it's no problem, obvioulsy I have RS2/S2 to try out on so if you game for being the test pilot I think we can sort it out easily enough.

Are they on the right lines?

We may not be too far wrong here Paul, the FARB on the rear does involve some funny maths that I looked at and fuzzy head resulted, it can't be that difficult tho so perhaps I'll have a look again. You have the same vertical movement so there is less twist but the lever is longer so the bar is easier to twist... I think that means that the bar is less stiff in relation to both the lever length and the reduction in twist angle. The 24mm FARB on the rear was a good option with the S2 FARB and for most it would be perfect with the RS2 so have that as the max setting for when nothing other than lift-off-oversteer will do What needs to be done is the stiffness of the 24mm item measured at the fixing point and then translate that into RARB language

Don't forget that you'll need to sort some ARB bushes out here if it's 24mm or below. I use the front ARB cups and bushes on my setup, fits perfect like.

You lost me there Andy. Are you saying new bushes will have to be made up to fit them? By the sounds of things its not just the case of designing a similar product to the Whiteline and the RS2 items bit more science involved.

Defo agree that both bars should have adjustable positions (whiteline has three on each side giving 5ish combinations possible) Front should be comparable to an rs2 item, that way those people (like me) that already have a whiteline rear can be accommodated.

I'm defo interested if this goes ahead.

Can't find the RARB at the mo, may be down at White Cottage, will give him a call in the morning, although TBH Steve you could just take the rear one off yours if we can't find it..

                                Hello lads,

I've just read the whole thread, I can't see us having any problems here but it will be a case of trial and error. We have a good starting point for the size of bar to use and when Steve comes over I can see the hook up points to see what adjustment we can put in.
The only thing that is concering me at the moment is material spec and the price.

I'll sort out what material we can use later on today, as for price am I right in thinking I need to come up cheaper than £325.00 for a fully adjustable kit with bushes?

BTW the price breakdown is £200.00 + for the 28mm dia RS2 front and £125.00 for the 18mm Whiteline rear.

                                Cheers,

                                Liam.

PS does anybody have and pics of the front and rear subframes?
