Ive mailed back for more info, as if its proven to 350 but not much higher then i couldnt justify the cost of that and the custom downpipe over an RS2 EM

Doug: Maybe in a few weeks I will be able to supply you with S1 manifold if it's of any help. Ofcourse the price will be lower than from stealers or vagboys.

Im sure this manifold could easily support more than 350 bhp. I plan on up to 500bhp and am going with this manifold.

As i say, ive told them that a few (inc myself) wouldnt want one if the power cant go to 500+ there would be no point if an RS2 EM can take u to 400ish.

Esp with it needing custom downpipe and custom hoses to fit etc etc.

            Will update when they reply

I'm sure it can go over 500bhp - but I want the prove. I don't want it cracking or warping with that much power and if it has never been used with that - Things bought have to be future proof - I may only be wanting 450bhp in a few weeks but 550bhp might be needed next year.

I will pay more money for one if I can see one on a car putting out 500bhp.

Is that when the heat shielding ceramic plates get fitted to the bodywork and you try to achieve escape velocity?

You have a point though Doug - when it comes to power, you seemingly can't have quite enough, once you got the bug... Should show those pesky 5-600bhp Mercs a thing or two, eh?

How's yours coming along? Still waiting bits?

I have to say the EM looks less attractive in this pic. The weld on cylinder 2 looks a bit like the weld material was used to fill in a gap between the pipe sections. Or maybe it just looks that way? If it was like that then the inside might be unsmooth right?

I too would like to see some proven higher hp examples using this manifold. I imagine it is possible to make a sexy-looking manifold that doesn't flow as well as a simpler one.

I find myself leaning more towards the RS Tuning version at the moment. Too bad it's more expensive.

                    Ant,

I asked Hacke about your requirement for atleast 500
                    HP.

                    -----
                    > grenröret räcker långt över 500hk..
                    >
                    > jag kommer att plåcka ut över 800hk i min motor och
                    > på den sitter det ett
                    > nästan likadant grenrör ,det ända som skiljer e
                    > designen eftersom det sitter
                    > i en s2.. annars e det samma rör.
                    >

"The EM is enough for much more than 500 HP."

"I am going to be making over 800 HP in my motor and
am using a very similar EM. The only difference is
that mine sits in an S2. Otherwise it uses the same
                    tubing."

IMPORTANT NOTE! Geez, I forgot that the Yanks wanted
EM's for the AAN. I forgot to tell Hacke that you of
course want S2 EM's. That is the reason there was some
misunderstanding here. Hacke runs an S2 just like the
rest of us. All the easier.

By the way, if you look at his motor, you will realize
he is going to be a serious contenter for top dog in
                    Sweden.

I just wanted to mention that my application is a Type 85 chassis (4kstq in U.S. parlance, maybe 90q in Europe/U.K.). Basically I need the 20vt EM to fit an ur-quattro. A Type 89 like an S2 might be a close enough proximation. I would like to know for sure that it would fit.

When you say "for the AAN" do you mean the C4 chassis? I guess it's called the ADU in the laters S2's, and has a 3B type intake manifold? So the AAN could mean a specific car?

                        Next door

                        Hi all!

I´m using a Hacke EM although MIG welded (i.e not top finish), he now is using a TIG and he really has gotten the hang of it. I´ve seen his work when I went by the garage this week and I´m pretty jealous that I did´nt wait until now to buy one

As far as I know he has built EM to both the S4 (AAN) and the urquattro (RR/3B).

                            Update - Sat 29 May

Ant has dropped out. I think this may have left a vacuum but even worse some misconceptions. Hacke called me today and we talked for a rather long time. Here are the facts.

                            - Dave Dawson in the US, has just ordered the first Hacke EM. Dave is running a highly modified S4. He has gotten rid of his RS2 turbo and RS2 manifold in search for more power. He was in a hurry so he decided to jump in before the GP could be arranged.

                            - The shipping costs to the US were 500 kr. Should be something less for the UK.

                            - Hacke says he has sold 35-40 of these EM's already. Only positive comments so far. He is now looking into investing in a machine to do mandrel bending.

                            - He says that if anyone has doubts about the potential of this manifold, he will soon have one on his own on his car with 800+ HP. The EM uses tubing of the same dimension as the one discussed here. IMPORTANT! THERE SEEMS TO BE A MISCONCEPTION THAT 350 HP IS THE LIMIT FOR THESE EM'S. THIS IS INCORRECT!!

                            - The GP will include EM's for all models including S2 (3B or ABY), RS2, AAN or UrQuattro. He doesn't care what model you order. It is the total number that counts.

                            - He is certain that the AAN, RS2 and S2 EM's will fit in these cars without any modifications to the cars. His suggestion for the UrQ is that if you are uncertain, you can make a jig to indicate the space requirements you have. He will modify the EM to ensure that it fits within the jig. Sounds like pretty good service to me.

I guess I am back in charge of this GP.
