It has nothing to do with them wanting 100 orders, I will ask someone I know at Quaife exactly what the deal is but I am sure they have their reasons for that reply.

I aksed him ages ago about a GB for RHD racks, but I know 034 sell them as totally remanufactured racks in LHD so no go, but we only need the rack and pinion, so if they are the same RHD and LHD we could just buy the modified parts and fit ourselves

Can you let me know what the issues / difficulties are with remanufacturing the parts? I did notice before i sent the pinion that it was comprised of two shaft parts and a bearing race - would me disassembling the pinion and asking you to look at remanufacturing the splined shaft part of the pinion and thre rack be a possibility?

Interesting... even if 034 could source the vital parts it shouldn'y be too hard to find local specialists who are equipped to refurbish racks on an exchange basis with these parts... That must be cheaper than shipping entire racks to/from the the USA.

TBH the racks are not hard to rebuild if you can get the alloy plug out of the end easily (I've destroyed a rack trying to get one out)
Seal kits available form the stealer and not expensive. Stu did a how to a while back

I also know a company in Sweden that makes custom racks for the same money as 034ms, but maybe we could look if they also could make loose parts that we can bolt togheter ourselfes, then they just need a rack to develop the parts in
