Hi Kev, have you got any of the adjusters left? As I've just looked at the little stupid 14mm hex nut on it and thought was a waste of space? Plus I've replaced one tie rod and doing the other side as that is knackered too, well the tracking guy said it would be best(for him maybe??) if I replaced both. Let me know ASAP.

        Cheers

Any thoughts on these causing bracket flex because of too much resistance to torsional (fore and aft) flex? I'm thinking of the tie rod angle change as the steering cycles through it's range. If this is not a concern, I'd love some!

id convert to a heim inner setup as I also believe they need more than one plane of movement

That is probably my end game but this would be a quicker implementation.

drill out your oem upright for a 1/2" bolt and use misalignment spacers inner and outer to make steering rods, easy ****

just make sure to use a larger washer to captivate the rod end on the nonsteering arm side in the event of a rod end failure

Yeah, wanting to keep OEM style TREs is really the hard part. I need some outer adjusters that convert from metric to standard so I can run off the shelf tie rods.

why do you want oem ends?

                          just ordered a set.

isn't there a tie rod end that has a "nut" around the base so that they can be held in place as well while maneuvering? all these febi/monroe/feq ones are all just round.

                          so this guy

                          vs say this guy

exactly what i'm looking for... but will fit the coupe quattro

I know on mine they are the tapered end with a washer luck nut that tightens against it. Dont think there will be anything wrong with the others as you will have lock nuts that tighten against it anyway

you don't need a wrench flat on the tie rod end

it will be tight in the steering arm, and you hold the center barrel adjuster and tighten the lock/jam nut against that, the TRE just sits there
