ok so for those of us who are not techie, what exactly is a 16 pin ISO plug? Can you elaborate in such a way that a mere pion like me will understand?Jason did - and others probably did too... but it requires folk to know exactly where to connect, and how to connect reliably - most folk hate wiring with a passion. I am offering this idea up as a way to simplify things for little expense.
The software I speak of has the functions of ehhhhh ten and sixty something !!!
Please read carefully - The Part 1 package does NOT include the 16-pin plug... I'll be going something smaller and circular so its easy added into the glovebox - or extended to wherever. Then you plug in the Part 2 module to access blink codes or the Part 3 cable so you can plug your own ISO-OBD cable... I will provide the pinout on Part 1 for those folk that want to do their own thing after I have broken out the OBD pins from the ECU onto that external plug.

@error - the point of making a 'special' connector coming out of the ecu is to make the cheapest commodity interconnect that can be adapted to a matchbox sized blink code reader or onto the USB adapter. For example I extract the 5V and holding relay outputs from ecu onto the special plug - you wouldnt get that on generic obd. The obd pins are a subset of my special connector.
The obd plugs arent so cheap and much harder to find.
Hope that clarifies things... Maybe a drawing will help ?Paul Nugent

To clarify further....
Part1 gives the "special" plug from inside the ecu
Part2 extends the special plug onto the lil blink code reader - no pc required
Part3 extends the special plug to the normal 16pin obd plug (iso9141) that you or your mechanic can plug directly into from inside the car
Part3.X is the USB diag cable and software to connect with part3 on your own laptopPaul Nugent
