Wills down Silverstone this weekend, so hopefully should be back on the case start of next week.

At the mo I think Wills idea was just to concentrate on RS2 lower door mouldings, but as Will say's keep adding suggestions of other parts, materials, and the like.

I'm sure if there were enough people wanting a specific part made from a rubber type material, then Will would look into trying to make it work.

This is the first time I can remember anybody trying to address this problem for these mouldings, so from me.

Like all threads of this nature it's down to members to show an interest, or it won't even make it to the tooling stage.

    Keep posting.

depending on the price, i might choose plastic lower parts, if the rubber ones get pricey. all i can say, Interested.

hi guys, back at work now after a good weekend at silverstone with GT500 (rob) 1st in class and 1st overall!!!!

ok what are peoples thoughts on an ABS or similar material replacement, that way it still has a bit of "give" is much easier to paint, and possibly do away with the steel insert all together?

as far as i can see it doesnt need to be rubber? just slightly flexable

        keep the input coming

ABS plastic sounds good. As you say better to paint but still with a bit of give. I'd be up for a full Coupe set as long as the price ain't silly.

ok by the looks of it abs is more expensive for tooling as its injection molded but still looking, going to do a trial with some differnt rubber types without the steel bar inside with a higher shore hardness to see if it actually needs it, aluminium is apprently not good for bonding to rubber due to oxidization, but looking a bit deeper to see if differnt rubbers bond better to extruded, anodised channel in aluminium.

another option is a nylon channel/stiffener

this is for avant only - at the moment - if this works well then i will look at coupe ones. The coupe ones are abit more involved as they act as like a seal between the outside and the sill top

I'm definitely interested for a set for my RS2. Passenger side looks like a washboard.

                    Count me in.

Wash your mouth out young man - only for the coffin carrier indeed!

I would have thought that a man of your engineering prowess would relish the idea of the more challenging Coupe, rather than shying away from it. So step up and meet the challenge head on.....

...I'll have a full set of rubber ones for the Coupe please including the ones ahead of the rear wheels on the rear wing

                      Cheers n

If the RS2 ones are the same as 80 saloons and avants then it might be worth spreading the word on the other forums i.e. -

Nogsport, Classic Audi, Audifans etc etc

This would give a much larger customer base and make it a much more viable proposition.

I'm interested for sure and i think you could sell hundreds easily. Theres a hole in the market that needs filling, coupe and avant, do it please
