They are in Thailand, so need to be shipped to where ever they need to go. To give an idea, shipping by sea container to LA is approx USD2100 for all 12. I would guess something similar to Europe.
They each have a large cardboard box. To make it affordable logistically, they all need to go to one address.
Make me an offer by PM.
Pics are of the prototype on my beater. The loose hood (13th hood) pictured is going to a local German guy with the only 1.9TDi Avant in Thailand.
They weigh approx 7.2 to 7.5 kg each.
They bolt in and latch like stock, but no provision for the gas strut. This could twist or damage the hood in time.
They do not have a full skeleton because they are made with a honeycomb material.
Anyone got one to say on quality? Pics look good but can't tell strength.
Yep, will fit on any B3/B4 including coupe.
How strong you want it to be? You want to stand or jump on it? No go.
The CF is French manufacture, the epoxy used grade A, the honey comb is a well known brand and all hoods have been made by a factory with 13 years experience in composites.
No one except me has one. Yet. One of them is going to a buddy over here. Once it is on his car, I will take more pics.
That's the best price I've come across for a full carbon bonnet/hood, if I had the spare funds I'd have one. Just an idea if your going to make more in future, you could include a subtle vent above the EM/turbo side of the engine.

not going to jump on it personally but the kids round here might. not joking they are that bad. Was wondering about flex too, it has no bracing so curious if it would flex while driving. Not familiar with honeycombe.
I'd be interested if a couple of others wanted in with me to get shipping down and i could hand deliver them once in the uk as i work at various places around the uk except scotland and ireland.
Ant, FYI Nomex core (if it is Nomex used) is what most F1 body panels are layed up with...it is flexible/light when it needs to be but very stiff when mounted/secured....
Having worked with all sorts of of composites it is amazing how something as flimsy, in its raw state, can be made into some thing so strong....
Chris, out of curiosity are they made in Thailand??....as there is a lot of other products (cycling parts) made out that way....GLWTS.....

Yes, made in Thailand. Honeycomb is Sorix. There is some flex, of course.
It could be made justas hard and stiff as steel, but then there is not weight savings.
This is 13kg lighter than stock.
