Gearbox upgrade?

Hey,

What gearbox upgrades are available for the S2 if it needs one, or is the standard box worth getting reconned?

Dunno what kinda power these babies are capable of taking before you start wearing internals rapidly?

I know you can use an RS2 box but is there anything else more hard wearing?

AFAIK, I think the S4 ( 2.7 biturbo ) shares the same gearbox than the ABY engined S2's, but I stand to be corrected...

Upwards of 400 bhp I believe. RS2 box is same as standard but with strengthened first gear.

Unless you are planning drag racing or launching hard in first a standard box will be fine up to 400BHP maybe more.

There's quite a few 6 speed boxes, the two most common for upgrades on the S2 are coded EDU and DSY

quite a few have used the old 5 speed UR boxes too which can take a huge amount of power...Dialynx use one in their Short sport Q

I was told that A4 and Allroad 2002+ 2.5TDI have a good 6 speed box:

Good things are : wide first and second gears + hardened main gear

What are the differences in the S2 boxes EDU and DSY?

5 speed UR box sounds intersting, I know the Group B Quattro's box was good for some 600 BHP will that be of a similar design if not same as the UR box?

DSY has built in oil cooler EDU does not.

The non Torsen 5 speed is very strong, the Pikes Peak cars were putting 700 HP through them. Need to change the rear diff too though.

Urq final ratio is 3.89 and S2 (like all other 5cyl t89) has 4.11.

I know Jeffers is using an EDU box on his car and thats around the 500bhp mark and that takes hard launches as well, so would be worth looking for, altho they arent cheap.

I plan on fitting mine soon!
