I had a 3.0tdi Touareg for a year and was impressed. My VW mechanic said they were reliable. However, from about 2014 ish they fitted some kind of variable oil pressure controlled by ecu and these are the ones to avoid.Nothelle S2 Avant

I have a 2013 B8.5 Avant with the 3.0 TDI CDUC engine coupled with S-Tronic box and I love it. Got it mapped by prj 4 years ago and on the rollers it put out 322 hp and 728 Nm. Really great car for alround driving and I haven't had any problems with either the engine or the gearbox.Comment

I'll bet that's nice to drive, it'd be a nice feeling driving something like an RS4/6 but in the real world I'd take what you've got !

I had a B5 S4 with initially a Dahlbäck Racing remap but when I got to meet prj I had him do his work on it too, transformed it to the better. I really miss the old school turbolag in it, you don't really get to feel it in the 3.0 TDI especially coupled with the S-Tronic. But as I've gotten older I really appreciate the smoothness and ease I can drive the diesel.
I really have to get on with my older B2 4000 CS with the 20VT so I can get the old school feel again.Comment

Hi
was going to start a new post but will just hijack this one so all the info is in the same place.
I'm thinking of getting an A4 Cabriolet Quattro to supplement my Coupe and give us something to enjoy in the good weather whenever we get any.
So my question is what engine should I go for? it has to be Auto and a Quattro so have been looking at the V6 petrol and diesels with an outside chance of a V8S4.
But more likely to be one of the V6's either petrol or diesel. Diesels have lower road Tax and better economy.
Is there any common issues with either of them?
Cheers

Thanks for the reply.
What you say makes a bit of sense but to be honest I've never really liked the TT's not sure why. So that's why I was looking at the A4 and maybe even a A5.
So just looking for any feedback on what to check for on either the V6 petrol or diesel and it has to be a Quattro.
Cheers

I had an A4q with the V6 petrol, and that was an excellent match, even had a decent sound. I personally would defo not want a diesel in a cabrio....an A4 Cabriolet Quattro to supplement my Coupe and give us something to enjoy in the good weather whenever we get any.
