F = M14x1.25
5 = Heat range
D = Thread length / Spark Position- 19mm / 17.5
P = Platinum
0 = Deviations from basic design
R = Burn off Resistor
Heat Range = 5... Lower numbers mean a colder plug... These provide higher heat dissipation into the head, and therefore lower heat absorption into the plug itself
It would be interesting to try a 4 in a modified S2 - though worth remembering that Audi / Porsche / Bosch kept the same plug in the 315bhp RS2. However I don't think that Bosch have anything colder than 5 that gets fitted to road cars - 4 and below gets into their racing range I think.
A plug that runs too cold will not clean itself properly.
The 'D' defines the shape of the electrode and its position. The 19mm height is important... There is a 'C' code with a lower profile electrode that is of interest.
A quick look thru some websites finds a Bosch F4CS which might be worth a go... Note the 'S' is for a silver centre electrode - not as hard wearing as platinum.
I've found some high spec Iridium (allegedly better than platinum) electrode plugs made by Denso which claim to be alternatives to the Bosch items...
Denso IK22 = Bosch F5DP0R
Denso IK24 = Bosch F4CS
There is also a racing application with IK02-24
Just to be clear though - I have never used them... Just cross-referencing the info... A slightly colder plug might give greater knock resilience on monster boost machines.
Well they were listed for the S4 and I would assume they're supposed to be a straight swap for the F5DPOR so I'd hazard a guess that they were the IK22. I wasn't just trying a random set of Denso plugs!!
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.
OK - thats good info then - I couldn't find anything less than 5 on-line ... but I found a new source of Bosch info tonight so that needs proper analysis.
ive always used sparkplugs.co.uk. they stock lots at good money
anybody any experience with BK7re plugs on the I5. they are the recommejnded plug for 16vt's. W4dpo's are used by polo G40's too i believe W6dpo is the G60 plug
