A friend has a 2.1 M42 E30 318is running about 200bhpand a lot more torque but 10% longer gearing and smaller tyres give it 7% longer final drive, will be interesting to see what it can do, it's got LPG tho so weighs a little more, should be in the low 6s, rediculous for a little 4 pot and faster than quoted for the stock E30 M3 IIRC. I had a few runs in the 6.5 region but I think they were erroneous so ignored them, only had 7 satelites due to being out in the sticks, need 8 or 9 really to get some decent redundancy and thus accuracy when accelerating hard.

With a few toys I could add 20bhp to mine and some smaller tyres would help too, would have to raise the rev limiter to 8k tho to hit 60 in 2nd... :mischeif: Time for some proper BMW love perhaps, the S2 is seriously rapid as stock so not too fussed about going silly, it's fast enough on the little B roads round here, rather like when the warp drive is engaged, it all goes blurry

Reaching 60mph in 2nd will shave approx 0.5s. I have removed the limiter on the Golf, so I reach 60mph at 7000rpm

Yeah, it works well like that. Unfortunately if I go for the tyre size that works best (205/50R15) rather than the OE baloons (205/55R15) then it'll fall short Would need to get a 3.9 LSD (current=4.1)to counteract it...

Quick update to this. Race Chrono is now available on Android and works a treat with the 5hz logger I bought back in 2010

Sweet! About time they made it compatible with Android. I have a Windows 8 phone, but RaceChrono was only compatible with the old school Nokia stuff.
I do run the Windows version on my Laptop, though.

Rusty: are you sure yours is a GPS logger, I thought you had the Qstarz 818, and that is a GPS receiver, but won't store a log.

I've got the Qstarz BT Q1000 10Hz. Works well, but as with all measurements of all kinds, sometimes you get crazy data. Easy to spot, though.

I have also tested with the 5Hz internal GPS logger of my Contour +2 action camera, and that is very consistent with the Qstarz logger (and my 100hz accelerometer based logger, for that matter)

Good for timing speed intervals like 60-90mph, etc. but GPS only is not that good for standing starts, as you know. 0-60 is of no interest to me or my gearbox/clutch, though. The shift and boost loss from 1-2nd also kills the 0-60 time vs dual clutch cars like the 997TTs and GTRs that the alcoholized RS2 will beat when the pulls are done in gear like 60-90mph, 60-120mph, etc.

Yes, its a receiver Was over excited at testing my 1.6 Clio and getting sub 10s 0-60

There are a few 10Hz receivers mentioned on the RC Forum. Excellent vfm!

                  A bit of testing today.

0-60 in the soaking wet - 4.67s was the best with a 4.76s being second best.
                  30-60 best was 2.45s.

                  Nice
