    RS2 with dead petrol

My RS2 was standing in my garage with only the occasional engine start up for about 3 years .. Now is time to get the car back on the road but engine would not start .. me thinking the RS2 will probably have dead petrol .. so I pump the old fuel out by lifting the fuel tank cover to pump out the 4 gallons of old petrol using a external suction pump and pipes .. took care in replacing the Tank parts .. then replaced fuel filter ( Ok i used a hacksaw on the filter clamp allen bolt ) and filled with fresh fuel .. charged the battery & the engine started on second attempt and ran well .. However next day the engine cranks over no problem BUT "will not start".. to me sounds like fuel problem ..checked all the fuses they are OK .. then find a second issue ..the windows now do not function .. maybe my problem is an aftermarket alarm/immobilizer problem ? .. i will eventually get rid of this extra alarm system to get the car back to standard .. meantime any of your ideas to suggest a fix and get the engine running will be welcome..

How much fresh fuel have you put in? Ive put 5L in before from empty and that wasnt enough to get it to the engine. I then added another 5L and she started.

              Cost effective code readers

I bought a U281 VW Audi DTC Memoscanner and the 2 x 2 adapter cable off ebay.co.uk. This isn't the best one but it certainly is cost effective and doesn't need a laptop.

These (not to the same scale):

No codes with WR engine, the ECU is very basic and only does timing and overboost fuel pump cut.

                    Hi there!
The same happened to me actually. I mean the windows. After half a year of engine repair it started up ok. But the windows would not open or close. There was no reaction. But the next day it got ok. Don't have any idea what the problem was. So, my post isn't very helpful I guess. If I were you, I'd rather check of the spark is present, then I'd check fuel delivery to the fuel ramp. If everything is present it probably is the timing. Pardon my English. It's not my native tongue)))

Can I ask what the cause / cure was ?

                      I am assuming it's sorted.

                      Thanks.

                        Dead Petrol

Dead Petrol Solution was simple .. take off the fuel pipe at the engine bay bulk head area .. & crank engine until the dead fuel was in a bucket .. refill with fresh fuel and the engine started.. "the old fuel smelt nothing like petrol."
Problem then is what to do with about 10ltr of dead petrol? .. i left the old fuel in an open but covered bucket ( in a safe & secure outside place) waiting to make my mind up what to do ? .. solution was just wait and this dead petrol slowly evaporated .. but was a bit of an issue for 2 weeks to dispose of dead petrol in a safe but still risky way!
                        Thanks for asking.

Was expecting it to be more complicated, i.e. not a simple as just dead petrol.

Nice to be 'disappointed' for a change.

                          Thanks for reply.
