update
well after the first robbery, that was next ...one saturday night of 2009 a drunk driver smashed it while parked in front of my house !S2 's and oldtimers

well, it was dead of a good death, but still wanted to keep it alive somehow......
so i did find a nice mechanic wanting to work slowly on a project...dismantling all the good parts from the S2...S2 's and oldtimers

and putting everything back in an empty shell ... complete electric harness, engine , gearbox, etc... close to a complete swapS2 's and oldtimers

so after 1 1/2 year, it s on the road again ... but still needs some work to do, rear bearing change DIY..S2 's and oldtimers

What a journey, but the end result looks better than the original, but as mentioned, what a tough road.
Prefer the current rims to the original ones.
I presume you've arranged off street parking ?
Best wishes with it's current incarnation, and hopefully it's final and lasting one.
