Lots of pics of the UrS4

Been meaning to post some pics of my UrS4 since I acquired it in May(!) this year. Gave it a wash this morning, the sun came out, so I dug out my camera and decided today was the day. It's not super-clean, but the clay bar & Zymol treatment I gave it a couple of months ago seems to have lasted nicely.

So far I've been having fun getting it running as it should do. I'm learning as I go but so far have replaced a defunct WGFV, DV, thermostat, replaced the headlamp bulbs, changed the coolant and re-aligned the front bumper.

    Here you go ...

Engine bay not exactly spotless, but tidy enough to work on.

Check the miles ... 13% of those have been acquired in the last 8 months!

And not forgetting the UFOs ...

Looks very clean, talking about the UFO's, what made Audi fit them as opposed to a normal disc config?

The theory behind them was to get a bigger pad contact within the standard sized wheels.
Disc diameter choice at the time was limited to 276mm for a 16" wheel, the UFO allowed a disc diameter of 310 and the pad contact area was huge.
They are fine when they work but costly to replace.

Agree totally about it needing lowering - and having experienced a certain S6 with a Koni / H&R setup I know that a good suspension set-up can seriously improve the car's handling as well as making it look a whole lot better.

Think I'm going to keep it on the standard wheels though - although do I plan to get them refurbished back to their standard condition at some point, along with a set of tyres more suited to its performance.

                  Very, very nice Andrew.
Top colour and I see yours has about a third of the mileage of mine!
Though it does look like it sits slightly higher than my own S4, I'm sure my springs and shocks are ok too.

I'll hopefully put some pics up too when I get a moment to wash off nearly 600 miles of filth accumulated over the past week!.

I wouldn't have it lowered.. My S6 was too low and scraped every speed bump out there.. Mine was Silver like yours, looking at the pictures brings a tear to my eye.. but I just couldn't afford the petrol and was no good at driving a fast car.. I couldn't let anyone go past me.

Now I drive the SlowCab in the nearside lane with the top down at 60mph and that's plenty enough for me.. I get 35+MPG as well..

aside from the UFOs and the fender markers, your car is absolutly identical to mine....even has roughly the same mileage!

right now my career situation means i'm in a bit of a holding pattern for the moment but i too plan on lowering. still haven't decided which springs and dampers to use though.

                        looks great!!

PS. your badges look great whereas mine look like crap....are they new? still available from the stealership?!

Cheers Pete. From the contemporary press pics I've seen, mine does look to be about the right sort of ride height - even though it does make it look like the wrong kinda of 4x4!

Nice to hear my car has a Canadian twin! The rear S4 badge is original, but is actually rather tarnished and losing its chrome - seem to have caught it at a good angle though! Not sure if Audi still sell 'em but I've seen new OE rear badges on German eBay if that helps?

Hehe. Yeah, thinking about it the S6 I drove did have to be carefully nursed over speed bumps. (Not sure if that was due to the exhaust being loose?) Either way, it was damn low on H&Rs. Seem to remember that Eibach make springs for it too ...? Either way I won't be making any rash decisions!

I can sympathise with you about the petrol consumption - normally between 26-30mpg depending on the type of driving. Luckily I don't need to use it too much for private mileage - and when I use it for work I get 40p per mile which helps.
