Having had a remap, I decided to check the car over and did a rolling road on Saturday before Combe track day and was rather disappointed by the results
. 273bhp and 288ftlbs was not in itself a bad thing but the AFRs were far too low and nearly off the scale of the machine at 10:1 for much of the rev range.

The other thing that I was a little worried by was the dip in the torque curve. This can be felt on the road and makes the originally smooth S2 a little peaky with a flat spot. The torque curve agrees with Brian Smith's car which also has the same map. Also, the torque dip coincides with the boost gauge fluctuating before settling, there's an audible change in the turbo note at the same point too. It's not a boost leak, I've checked. Very strange

On the track the car felt flat coming out of a couple of corners due to the revs being in the region of the torque dent and then hit 4500rpm and started to fly again.
One explaination for the rich running was that the DV was damaged as it is now knackered after a session on the track but this was after 10 laps of Combe at full throttle. As a result I have no idea of it's condition on the rollers but the fact that it subsequently broke isn't exactly too encouraging. If it was leaking then there would be a boost leak into the low pressure side... Sounded like an S1 going round the track though so all quite amusing really, hope there's no damage to the turbo through poor operation.
I've borrowed a DV from a mate and the car seems to fly this evening but the boost dent is still there, as is the flutterring boost gauge...
Finally, fuel ineficiency is quite bad now too! I'm getting aboslutely rubbish mpg on a cruise, I wonder if it's related to the rich running on the rollers and possibly DV? Have to see if it improves with a new DV.
Overal then, not a great weekend but the track session was great fun!

! Have the onboard footage from my car following it and it's all over the place! With the remap the S2 fleeced it down the straights (before the remap it neck-a-neck!) and was easily a match in the corners, even on my standard springs!
