I do a lot of motorway driving, and when I've got a tosser doing that to me I either brake for a long while but very gradually, or slow down gradually to leave a fair gap infront of me and light the brakelights up while accelerating away slightly. They tend to get the message.

Sorry to hear about it mate, seems like all you need right now

            Update:-

After 2 months of faffing due to Chritmas and confuion I've just had an almost comedy phone call...

The repair has been quoted at £2200 and the book value of the car is £2500, this makes it uneconomical to repair... yeah, right . Suffice it to say that I've suddenly found some energy and made a few phone calls to get this sorted and fast... for a start the car's insured for £6k agreed value

Insurance - what a scam between them and the body shops...

How the hell do they get £2200 as a repair bill for a 5mph dunk like that ?

And how/who did you get the agreed value thing sorted with ?

I'm currently with Admiral so I know I'll be shafted when my turn for some bad luck like that comes my way.

Insured with Greenlight but Highway are the insurers.

Insured value of £6k, track cover for £50 a day (not Combe or outside of the UK though), mods insured like-for-like. Quite pleased with their price and service, just getting confused by dealing with multiple companies at once. Greenlight are on the case though and were very helpful.

now that IS a joke......I really do fear when one day i have a shunt.

On that basis what does an agreed value actually provide you with then???

There are complication arising from not dealing with the claim through the the insurance company but through a third party legal team who deal with the bloke that hit me's insurance. Highly confusing and I've only just cleared it up in my head after 2 months of confusion. If I do end up going through my insurance company then I'm covered by the agreed value... clear? Thought not...

Looking at photo earlier on in post, what is actually wrong to warrant over £2k? looks just like rear panel damage to me, surely this can be knocked out & re-sprayed??

Thats what I thought based on the photo... Like maybe 200-300 quid all in - unless something is bent out of sight.

Then again - do panel beaters still exist in this country full of phuckwits leaving school with umpteen useless A grades and a degree? Bet they just go on the principle of replacing anything thats bent as opposed to straightening / repairing it with some good old traditional practical skills.

                            Rant.

If it needs a new bumper (Can't remember if it did or not) that cost me £500 to buy and paint on its own without fitting....

£2k seems a little steep though.
