The family did have young kids, and they were cut up about seeing their dog with half its shoulder missing.

Christmas or not, im not willing to take the hit for ~£1000 because someone didnt know their dog was out despite living next to one of the busiest A roads in the area, and because i dont have £1k sat in my back pocket.

Im not brutal about the situation, and IMHO getting second hand parts and doing alot of the work myself, and dealing with all the inconvenience is pretty fair of me, lets face it i could have receipts for recovery costs, an audi dealership doing all the work, new parts, maybe add a hire car in there, expenses to potentially take time off work to transport the car etc etc

The old bumper is cracked in 5 places and the centre crack is expending. It is fixed to the car on the passenger side with duck tape and the indicator bulb is duck taped to the bumper. Im sure i could get away with it once with Mr Plod, but i wouldnt like to push my luck, id also not like to have the front bumper go under my wheels at 70mph!
I didn't realise it had done so much damage.....
I don't know of anyone who could take a grand "on the chin"...
such a sad situation all round really....and sorry if I caused any offence....
    good luck with the repairs.....

Ugh that was one hell of a foggy night. I remember it well as Ross and I drove to Neil's. So sorry to hear about the accident Andy. As brutal as it may sound, you are right to have the dog owners take the bill. Still, I never realised how much damage a dog could do to a car!! What was it? A Mutated Great Dame??

thats so sad....imagine having to explain to young kids, if he has got any, the day before christmas that their family pet has died.....
so claiming of the guy would be rather brutal in my opinion.....
I'd look at an upgrade....and if everything still works on your old bumper keep with it over the winter, as you never know what else may happen.
collect the parts needed for the RS2 bumper... and come spring time....a tasty front end!!...

    Unlucky Andy.

I haven't read the whole thing, but If it was me, I would be ordering ALL the new parts (LEFT AND RIGHT) so the lights match and bill the owner of the dog. I personally wouldn't go RS2 at the front of the car but that is my personal opinion. You have a lovely S2 there, don't spoil it.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Already have a brembo upgrade - upgrading further to the 996 setup. Was on my way back from milling the carriers!

Shucks, poor dog - yeah I know how that feels too.

******. Sorry to read this Andy. I hope you can get the car sorted out ok, it's shame the dog couldn't be fixed.

I hit a fox a couple of months ago. There wasn't much left of it after I hit it, there wasn't much left of the front spoiler, undertray and wheel arch liner either. And the ****** made a hole in the A/C condensor. It ended up about £1k worth of damage. Luckily nothing structural was damaged.
