1st and foremost - main thing is you are all OK.

Only damage is to some cherished metal - but I always thought the main rule when having the car removed from scene of an accident (when you cant drive it) is to get it taken HOME or to some garage / lockup or yard that you have personal connections with you know that can get at the car anytime you need. It is still YOUR car. This is a ploy by the insurers to put themsleves into a position of control, then potentially charge you for storage at the end of the ordeal (by which I mean offering you a paltry / sub-market value sum to replace your car).

my insurance ESURE...sy they keep car...if payout............................since i done front suspensin and head i know i wont get that money back on payout when i get it............................can i still buy car back???
car is in pound in LEEDS at white hal....would it be beter to get car home??

Def get the car on your drive. Only then consider discussing the value/payment with your insurance company. As stated, you could get hit with storage costs, if you do not win against the other driver or of they were uninsured. Also, you can control who sees the car (such as assessors) and discuss with them the value - it is common for insurance assessors to value the car low and do a deal over the payout/scrap so you need to control that by being part of the negatiations.

This also gives you a chance to remove an personal property or fittings which were not part of the cover and replace them with standard items if/where necessary

In that case laugh at the first offer, explain why the second offer is offensive and ask for a buy back price out of interest then take your time on the third offer if you get one (depends how convincing you are with the explanation).

Eventually say that you want to either fix it or use it for bits on a replacement that you have seen and would like to by it back for spares and then haggle on the final price.....I doubt they will move again but you can try.

Also, I would suggest not mentioning the expensive extras as this will only increase your buyback price

yes have PMed Mark,just gotta see what payout wil be and if i can buy her back...........................lots of hum and haas when i informed them of wanting to buy back.......i wondering have the started on car yet( striping /dammaged car futher or crushing it)...

gotta speak to thei engineer sometime after they put offer to me.....................i tried umteen times telling insurance personal that i wasnt planning to repair car just use usefull bits.....thats hen the brick walls came up............so untill i speek,to him i wont know what plans will be

if all looks good on monday will hunt around for a firm to transport RED body up here.......


i just worried of being steam rolled from insurance company...........thanks for offer ,if ok with you will be calling on you if i get ost in their maze

Just remember, It's yours until they have the signed V5... BTDT...Recently with the CQ..

If there's anything missing on it's return, it's been stolen... And you have every right to claim for said theft from your fully insured vehicle.

Thank you to all those who posted posts here, you all answered alot of questions,as well as opened many more..................from things i never thought off


what happens if my car is more damaged now( from stakking in yard ,or from crane/forklift) tha when if had a meeting wit the wall,on the 13th of septemper...................................engine was still running and no fluids lost ....other than frpm ripped r/r brake hose

other question is ....if i buy back....do i have o pay /organise its return to bradford from STANDFORD BRIDGE??.................
