...and there was you telling me how the Avant feels more planted on the road

It happens, we learn from it, looks very similar to the type of accident I had except I had a brick wall rather than a ditch, and dare I say a tad more speed on impact

      Just not under braking!

Ive stripped out the interior as wel now, so it will be even less planted

As i said on the phone, it sounded very similar. Everything that could have gone right pretty much did - lucky to get out of it without a scratch, on both me and the car.

Jees Andy... I was reading that thinking about the poor perfect looking S2 - just after all that work you had done too.

Bit of a weird off that - lucky boy for such an escape there.

sorry to hear about this and in only a couple of weeks of ownership, sure he can handle the power bit of a step up from a scooby/sierra.

cheeky git... I'll have you know that when I crash I do it properly!

And hey it's probably less powerful then the scooby AND I've already done more miles in it without crashing then he has!

friendly joke, glad you two have decided to get this as a nice track toy, the sierra would have been a good bit of fun but they rot too quick and it needs more power (hence my one had a turbo technics conversion on ).

Plus i've heard andy usually drives like a girl anyways incase he gets it dirty

If it makes you feel any better Jess the damage really was minimal. Also I gave her a quick polish a few days later:

When I think about track prepared cars the first thing I think of is cleaning and polishing products. In fact, a good layer of polish is better protection than a rollcage or harnesses, or so extensive (pub) research has confirmed...

Well considering the situation im glad that

                          a) im alive
                          b) no one else died or was injured and
                          c) that the car has 1 plastic crack in it as a result of a 60mph accident when the entire thing could be utterly destroyed and several folk could have perished.

The 1 crack in the rear treser only matches the various other cracks, scrapes, gouges and ram-raiding marks that already exist so its the least of my concerns.

Before any critics start with my age and/or driving style its also fair to point out that it was not raining but the road was wet, i was not speeding, there were no oncoming cars in the over-taking lane and indeed it was legal for me to overtake. The police which were called to the scene (at my request) were happy that i was not racing anyone/breaking the speed limit/killing small children.

Prior to the accident i had just covered a 2000 mile round trip to germany, my 3rd trip of such length, and 12 laps of the worlds most dangerous race track, without incident, in a more powerful and "snappy" car.

Needless to say that the outcome was the best of a bad situation, and one which im extremely happy about - broken plastic or not.

Chill out Mr B, I didn't see anyone having a go at you

I had a similar experience in my first car a week after passing my test. I wasn't overtaking, just going around a right hand bend when the back end went and I spun the car. I didn't hit anyone and I don't know to this day what happened, but I needed a clean pair of underwear!

Hmm, well ok, but it's not a good start is it!?!

Maybe you should treat Katie to a machine polish to cheer her up

BTW did you see that Vettel has named his car 'Kate's dirty sister'? Seems it's not just girls that give their cars silly names!
