    my s2 coupe...project red ruby

Hi all, it's time I put a thread up after sitting on the sideline going through what seems like a million posts.
It started out as a powerflex bush upgade, but while the wish bones were coming off I noticed the subframes were a bit crusty!! rear was rotted through so a replacement was sourced front was ok, had them blasted, seam welded then zinc primed and sprayed and solid mounted, all wishbones had the same treatment but stitch welded.

Had the struts blasted primed and sprayed, then treated them to some bilsteins and h&r's .

as per forum 280mm rear brake test fit

detachable rear tow bar, thats coming off!!!!!

hopefully going to be on its wheels tomorrow and on the road in time for the rolling road day, well thats the plan.
I would just like to say a big thankyou to all forum members for sharing all your invaluable knowledge and information thats helps guys like me keep these cars on the road
    constructive criticism most welcome

Very nice. That exhaust system looks awesome, did you build it yourself?

Where abouts in Rotherville are you at? Used to live there myself and still go back often to see the folks.

              Hi!
Pretty sure that with progressive springs the tighter coils go at the top as they are effectively softer!

thanks, built it using mandrel bends, many a head scratching moments under the car I can tell you, hopefully it should be ok for track days hence the middle box,

I put them on with the writing on the springs the right way up, looks like a call to h&r to double check, thanks for that better to find out now rather than when its on the road

                      .

The spring should go on so that the 'coil end' matches the seat it's fitting into, they are slightly different top and bottom.

Forget the writing and the 'progressive' bit...it's there so the springs expands fully when your sus. is fully unloaded, if not the spring will unseat it's self.

they sat upto the stopper in the cup and looked all ok to me, hav got to take the fronts off to put some alloy top mounts on, will try it other way up to see if there is any difference.

                              See here!

H&R claim that the writing should be readable on the vehicle but obviously stick it on anyway they like! Still better to confirm it first. Didn't they come with instructions regarding fitment?
I thought the idea of progressive springs was that they got stiffer with increased load. That can only occur if the softest rate is uppermost as that will compress first.
What's the part number of these out of interest?
