Nero's swap from 3b to ABY

I was pointed at the fact that I didn't introduce my ABY coupe here... So let's do it.

I drove a 3b since 2000, and sold it this summer to my mate Jaco, as my brother told me that he wanted to sell his ABY Coupe.
As the ABY from my brother was first owned by my mate Lukas, I really wanted that car. Lukas has imported the Coupe from Luxembourg and it has all the documentation and 4 keys. I already had my 3B Coupe when I bought an Avant to replace it, but Bram has bought his Avant from me. I always wanted a ABY Coupe, as the ABY Avant didn't touch me like my 3B Coupe did.
It has cost Lukas and my brother a lot of money to keep the car well maintained, so I would be damned if a ricer boy with baseball cap and "No Fear" stickers would have bought the car.

As it wasn't the time for me to buy a car (had already a few cars) I had to sell my Mercedes E500 replica and my 3b. Selling the 3b after 9 years wasn't a easy decision. But my mate Jaco convinced me with the sentence: "I will buy the car!".
As he is a 90q lover, I was happily surprised. No ricer boy in my 3B!

All the trades and payments are complete, so everybody is happy.

    My ABY Coupe:

    03-1993
    Panthero Black
Leather, heated seats, climate control, sunroof with round pre-select switch, carbon, complete service map with € 23k of bills, 4 keys, complete toolkit etc.

My brother bought a Rieger RS2 bumper, which Bram, Jaco and me has costs a lot of time to make it look good. He also bought the LM replica wheels, RS2 brakes, RS2 intercooler, 911 mirrors and RS2 gril. Lukas already had EPS (Holland) made a stainless exhaust for it, Powerflexed the front, replaced the clutch and bought a Dahlback intake kit for it. It already had a custom remap by the owner in Luxembourg.

I did an audio install for my brother in 2007. Alpine headunit, Audison LRx amplifiers, Connection cables and a Jehnert soundsystem, complete with Audi Coupe specific crossovers. It's still in the car and was part of the deal.

Since I had it, I've mounted fresh yellow Konis with H&R springs and are doing a lot of repairs on the suspension. It's a habit of me, to have a Quattro suspension without cracks, noises and play so I still have a lot of work.

Next week I'm going to replace the subframes bushes with solid ones. A guy on the Dutch forum makes a complete kit of solid bushes (front and rear sub) for Eur. 80,- and I have bought a set. Nice piece of machining. Maybe you guys are interested, don't know what 034 will ask for a set solids (NCTS, but it's a nice guy).
New Powerflex diff rubber borrowed from Henkjan, as Powerflex is on a long holiday.
Now I'm waiting for new connection joints (don't know the English word for it, the joints with the 3 bolts from the wishbone to wheel/suspension), droplinks and stabilizer rubbers. Already replaced handbrake cables and other little things.

I have a RS2 setup laying around, turbo, 044 pump, wagner EM, RS2 downpipe etc, but the turbo has a crack in the exhaust housing so it has to wait.

It also has to wait, because I just bought VEMS.

Hope you guys like my Coupe!

                      Thanks for the compliments guys!

As I receive questions about the doorpanels, some more info.

The caraudio was 4 days work, but the sound is very nice.

I don't build booming dB-cars, but am more in to sound quality. I know a lot of guys see the 12-speaker system, and are thinking that I wear a reversed baseballcap. But that's no longer true.

The Jehnert systems are great to use, and are very complete. Nice 3 way system with crossovers that are already set up for your car. A nice Alpine with time-correction and good amp control will do the further tweaks.
But the Jehnerts need a lot of nominal power to get the best out of it, we have used a 2channel Audison LRx 2.500 that will give 2x200 watt rms @ 4 ohm. And Audison power is underrated. So a big, stable amp and you are fine.

The door will receive 4 woofers, and do get a little heavy. Please think twice before you cut your doorpanels and try a dry fit before you can't go back.

The speakers in the dashboard are an easy fit. The middle toners go in the standard 10cm mounts. I do made some mounting panels in the dashboard to make it more rigid.

The tweeters go in the little air vents in the dashboard, and fit very well.

The sound is very nice, and it has a very good positioning. It really looks like if Michael Jackson is moonwalking on your bonnet. The different components and separate placing of the subs, mids and tweeters can't be heared.

It's nice to have something aftermarket that DOES fit at once in your Coupe.

                        Good investment dude.

Nero had to buy VEMS because he can not bare the fact that he is a ECU freak and me as a n00b running VEMS earlier as he does

Coming months we will try to put your current k24 setup on VEMS and play with it to learn. After that we will put in the RS2 stuff and get that Coupe as fast as my Avant

Thanks mate. Since VEMS came out, we knew that we both had to have it.
First we gonna blow up that k24-7000 of me. And than a RS2 turbo or bigger.

It's gonna be a lot of fun.

Oh, the wheels are 18 inch.
