Is the new spring perch solid or machined out inside? Could you fit the original washer that went under the original spring perch or would that push then new one way up the damper (if its solid)?

That wouldn't fit, since the H&R perch really slides tight over the damper, and needs to be pushed upwards against the well tightened bearing of the topmount.

        Hope to get somewhere tomorrow

thanks for thinking with me btw

Do you have lower adjustable spring perch wound up to the point that there is no play in the spring with no load (ie uncompressed off the car)?

            Also tried that yes

They are now adjusted a bit higher then in the pictures a few pages back, which is around 3/4th wound up in the front, so near maximum height. Spring pressure against the perch can't be the issue then.

Got fed up with it, and ended up buying a new set of H&R coilovers. Finally as it should be, and got it aligned by a mate who knows his stuff.

                Alignment now is:

                front:

5' toe out, 1°20' neg camber

                rear:

toe dead straight, 55' neg camber

together with the Neuspeed 19mm ARB (incl brackets) we mounted, the handling gives a lot of confidence

Also fixed/upgraded a few little niggles:

                  - 2 new Eagle F1 assymetric 2 tires at the front
                  - new heater matrix coolant hose (leaking bleed screw)
                  - new windscreen washer pump (old one constantly said it was empty)
                  - new PCV valve (ripped membrane)
                  - painted the bumper grills black again with stone chip black
                  - ditched the aux rad (new one since 2008, but a lot of autobahn kills it)
                  - put in a ITG panel filter since the OEM one started ripping

only 2000km old. K26/27 hybrid owners... be sure to check this. I'm seeing 1.95bar peak boost at autobahn in higher gears, so might be too much pulling on the stock filter?

                    Are H & R Coilovers less expensive than KW 3s ?

                      certainly are!

But then I'd also only buy KW V1, since messing with the V3's is something I wouldn't be doing... I think a lot of V3's are set up worse than a stock V1.

I like these H&R's. Not too hard, but good stability.

                        The car looks great.

What differences have you noticed with the neuspeed sway bar?

Yes big difference I have the white line rear for the avant and that made rear end nice with the solid Bambridge subframe mounts

Indeed, much less lag while changing direction, and generally a very tight feel for the rear end with less understeer.

Had a nice 4-day trip with some great roads. Lovely to feel the difference with H&R and Neuspeed bar. A few pics:

On the trip my new 500 mile old topmounts started failing quite quickly, with now being completely shot. OEM green ones, not the Meyle HD's.
They took a beating over some very hard bumps, but still such a shame.

I'm sick of already having done them twice... Meyle HD's didn't last much longer. where can I buy poly upgraded ones? Solid alu is too harsch I suppose?
