On the trip my new 500 mile old topmounts started failing quite quickly, with now being completely shot. OEM green ones, not the Meyle HD's.
They took a beating over some very hard bumps, but still such a shame.

I'm sick of already having done them twice... Meyle HD's didn't last much longer. where can I buy poly upgraded ones? Solid alu is too harsch I suppose?

So do you feel your steering has gone vague since the top mounts have started failing?

SLS AMG = no match

Starting from 120 in 4th gear I thought the old Avant did quite well, but above 200 the SLS is massive... very impressive!

The chap clearly enjoyed it, and we shared a few good 's.

Sweet. That is 571hp and 650nm of AMG goodness. This is one Benz that really moves much thanks to a brilliant dual clutch tranny. In addition, it lacks what often plagues high powered Benzes, namely massive weight and acceleration killing silly long gear ratios. 100-200kmh typically in the mid to high 7 second bracket.

Did an unexpected easy fix to something I've had since the last year.

Always when starting the engine cold, the first 1 or 2km it would hick up/choke a bit
at the moment you give some gas. A slight hesitation for a second or so.

I epoxy'd the back of my ISV this week as a precaution, and I immediatly noticed something different... perfect throttle reaction now!

Could be an good fix for people who have the same thing

So your ISV leaked air and that caused the problem?

Just bought my first RS2, and been reading up a lot. Realy thrilled with this thread, particularly of the pictures you took on the mountains all those years ago!

Will definitely get my thread going once the car has been serviced.

ISV fix sounds right for my V6 Avant too, will give it a go.

Replaced the 2 month old OEM topmounts with Meyle hD ones again.
First testdrive was only good news, no more clattering.

Were the OEM ones originally the same height as the Meyle ones?
Also, where did you get the Meyle ones and what did they cost?

No idea about the heigt difference, but I noticed the upper cup was already almost a cm higher near the end of our roadtrip to Wales...
