So according to the carfolio site, my Golf mk1 originally weighed 870Kg, and now with a 16v motor and being stripped and caged should be a bit less, say 820 kg dry with a 170 bhp motor works out as 210 bhp/ton.
Just noticed the golf weighs less than the front end of the Avants!! ( but then i cant get a washing machine in the back!!)
Weighed the my s2 again this evening (3b coupe), 1/4 tank of fuel, from previous time I removed spare wheel, jack, tools, rear door cards, fuel tank cover, rear seat belts.
All the tarry stick on anti vibration panels are still in place, as is the sunroof, its going to get expensive to get much more weight now, need some of the Chef's carbon kit

1430kg with me in it
so 1330kg
Might get it under 1300kg yet.
Thanks Andy, fascinating figures, they really are... Because I keep going there with the RallyWreck... The front seats will be a big factor in that weight, so carbon race ones will save a huge amount (but the cost is )... Then there's all sorts of trim to lose, interior, arch liners etc... I'd guess, at a push, with the seats replaced, all trim out, headlining etc, you could make 1250kg. But if you put a cage in and fire system, the weight starts going up again...
Keep popping down to the weighbridge, fascinating stuff... And the data for us is good reference.

This is with recaro speeds, lighter than stock, but still recliners so more weight could be saved, however as you say cost.
Next is sunroof out, not sure what to do after that, can remove the tar pads, and sound deadening in the doorcards, battery in boot would help distribution, but then carbon parts for more savings which are £££, kind of a law of diminishing returns from now on.
Don't really want to remove procen ten.
All suggestions appreciated, other than buying a light car
don't look to the big, look to the small, look at not only removing items (trim etc) but also lightening items. (drilling them out etc)... To give you an idea, some of the hillclimb/sprint or rally Ur's (that are called replicas) have drilled alternator and PAS brackets, handbrakes and pretty much anything else that'll take a good drilling without losing too much (compromising) rigidity. I've not gone too far down that route yet, but the combined weight saving is impressive.

S2 avant weight 1570 kg dry (no oil no coolant)
I would need to strip it down 200kg (want to put it on the trailer with something from 800kg and don't want to overload like 300kg)
-Front seats (60kg?)
-Rear seats (60 kg)
-Spare wheel (20kg)
- Other easy things to save some weight?
And any idea what this would weigh (700/800?)
RS2 "empty" shell with
-All doors
-full rear suspension diff
-Front suspension
-4wheels
-carpet and loom insode
-Sun roof
