I had an early morning run out today, took this photo in Arundel, by the castle walls at the top of the High Street.

The old girl is now registered as a historic vehicle, which seems bonkers…Leave a comment:

Thanks Dave.
There was no fear of a fast get away this morning, it was frozen ice below the snow, so half a can of de-icer and about five minutes of thundering away on the drive at 06:45 this morning before it moved.
The neighbourhood loves me…..Leave a comment:

Thanks Rob, absolutely. She’s living a full life, as am I with her. Without wishing to sound too philosophical, the years of me and a machine like this being used like this are down to low(er)*digits. We plan to make the most of those years.
* Noting advancing years only. I’m not planning to croak any time soon.Last edited by Ian Simmonds; 5 January 2026, 23:02.Leave a comment:

Looking great. Let her warm up a bit before driving off if you are still on 10/60 oilLeave a comment:

Lol. Our neighbour over the road has a ‘hell club’ type motorbike with literally no exhaust, he joked that after 6-years I was going to get my revenge and shake the glassware in their kitchen now.
Apparently, it actually does….

Well, put another couple of hundred miles on the old girl and changed the oil. Then put another hundred on today, and it’s genuinely settling in. You can feel and hear the car come alive. The temperature control has stabilised, as has the lumpy idle, the bulbs have stopped blowing and the MAF stumble is working itself out. Boost is right up there with the new turbo and the suspension has woken up. It’s less scary now, less stressful, dare I say…. Fun….

Put the old rear bootlid panels on and removed some old decals. The oil will need a change soon, it’s flushed out 6- years of standing. Put about a hundred miles on it over the weekend and it genuinely feels like it’s waking up.

Lots and lots of silly little jobs done I won’t bore you with, but it is waking up slowly.

It’s back home, Road legal.

The Verkline solid engine mounts are very noticeable, as is the new turbo.
Last time it was on the road was around August 2019. Driving it home was actually quite intimidating, I’ve clearly grown soft in the last few years and forgotten how terrifying it is….
I’ll need some time to adjust….
