Greg, I'll have a look at the cooler I have here and see what its like and take some pics. I got it because I grounded mine last year but it seems to be ok, just the air duct corroded.

I have received the replacement cooler from Lance
and got it test fitted yesterday. Unfortunately the engine sounds very tappety and an underlying swish noise beneath it so will be taking the engine out in the next couple of months and taking a proper look into the issue.
While it is out I plan to tidy up a few bits of corrosion in the engine bay and change the clutch.
Will keep you posted on what happens, but will probably turn into a project thread at a later date... ive put by a couple of k in my head to prepare myself for the worst though.
Also big thanks to Newsh for posting me his spare oil pipes so that I could try to bypass the cooler to test, unfortunately they arent quite long enough to do that with.Greg

It had corroded. The original design for the duct is pretty crap, not only does is encourage all the crap to run down the duct to the cooler, but it also builds up in front of it. I am making new brackets up for the new cooler so that there is an inch gap between end of duct and cooler, I know I will loose a little bit of airflow, but hopefully avoid all the crap building up against it.
If you havent done it already id fish out anything thats stuck against it.Greg

Bummer, Greg! Hope you get it all sorted. Stick some oil in and fluch it through and see what comes out... or take off the sump. Unlikely that you'll have done much damage if you caught it early.Cheers'en, AndyC

Had a bit of a daft moment, I only realised yesterday the cooler I bought has an outlet on either side rather than both on same side so stock pipes wont fit it.
Does anyone know what the standard oil pipe hose fittings thread and fitting sizes are called so I can get a new hose made up to suitGreg

A little update on this. I now have the oil cooler and fittings so started getting it fitted up in the stock position.
I plumped for a 13row cooler in the end, the overall dimensions are slightly larger than stock and pipes should be routed to the stock location too. Managed to get the first pipe test fitted, and goto mae up the next one when i get a weekend to do it.Attached FilesGreg

Looks pretty tidy, make sure the ducting doesn't touch the front of the cooler.

Interesting to hear about the oil cooler letting go!..
I recently changed my oil cooler - thanks to Pete at Quattro corner. Mine had a good quantity of leaves and road deposits sitting against the bottom row of the cooler. It was a real bsatrad to remove the nuts - rusted in!
When I dismantled all the air duct, housing and brackets, etc I took the time to strip down and treat with a good old paint of black hammerite. Hell, I even treated the oil cooler to a lick of red hammerite. When I removed the oil cooler, the fins were literally disintegrating upon touch.
My oil pipes were all good - the offside pipe was the real bsatrad to get off. All wire brushed off and copper greased to new oil cooler.
I like your new oil cooler - be great if you coul get some ducting fixed up to maximising cooling potential.
Will post up some photos of my efforts soon.4 Rings Rule.......Everytime
