depends if its your weekend car or daily drive.
if you want to go all out on a daily drive then its got to be a turbo charged audi of some description, whether it be an S2, RS2, S4, RS4 etc. They are all essentially similar; comfortable, refined, fast, good handling, and practical cars.
If you want a weekend toy I'd build a bmw e30 with a supercharged m62 engine (all aluminum 4.4 V8). that would be a reliable 425+bhp on a stock engine. You'd still have about 5k left over even after sorting out the rest of the car.Comment

RS2 and RS4 two very different beast, RS2 has a rawness about it in power delivery the old school turbo boost throw you back in your seat.
RS4 is more refined, not boring but smooth, the power builds effortlessly.
Both cars have their plus and minus points, take a test drive ideally and see what suits you.Comment

Been in a couple of tuned ones - circa 340-360bhp - not mental ones - something about them doesnt work for me - they are a fine well built machine that handles well too, but I dunno - it lacks a certain something. I think it is the sound... or maybe I am allergic to V6 engines - the only ones I have ever owned cost me a bleeding fortune.Paul Nugent

With 15K I would buy a well sorted big power R32GTR Skyline
(runs for cover....)
I realise this is an Audi forum and I love my Audi, but will never give as much bang for buck as a Skyline... Built better than you imagine, don't really go wrong and won't break as easily as an S2, plus parts are so much easier to get... lots of nicely modded ones available for under 15K.
Unbelievably quick, handle amazingly and can have air-con, etc etc etc...
Anyway, out of the choices you mention, I would say RS2 all day long - you will surely keep it a while, enjoy it and sell without losing much - if any money...
ChrisHonda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...Comment

You will never get a clear steer on any car forum with such a question..
Having read the points you make, to me it looks like you need an RS4 tweaked with an MRC stage 1 map giving you circa 420bhp, whilst everything else including reliability stays totally standard.. and only costs £350 a year to insure....
I have a 20v Ur and a B5 RS4 and the B5 is somehow easier to work on, it certainly comes with better diagnostics, which alone will save you a fortune…
Unfortunately you are on your own when it comes to making a decision cuz only you know what you want…….
Best of luckComment
